Chapter 26: Just Put a Stop to This
"I know this might seem a little weird and all, but I really need to talk to you about a small case I have going on. It's about a friend and I really think you can help. My name is Katherine Solomon and I am friends with the Stevens family." I was standing right in front of the auditorium before Chorus class, whispering into the phone these words. "You can call me back to this number. Thank you. Hope you have a nice day, Dr. Houston."
After recording the message because the man did not answer the phone call, I hung up and threw my phone into my bag. I knew it was better to call him last night, but Fanny had a small crisis going on. Apparently, Jerome 'dumping' her was a bit more serious than what it sounded like from the other side of the door. You see, Fanny isn't the type to cry over a guy's departure- I mean, it's not like the boy died, but you get my point. She is the type to be really, but I mean really mad when a guy leaves her. The first thing she does is curse. Then she explains. Then she curses. Finally, she punches something- in some occasions it might be someone, so make sure you stand within at least five feet of distance- and finally realize everything was probably not worth it. To be honest, she reacted in a less violent way than I thought she could- and it probably was.
Jerome, however, was just fine. Something was unsettling him, but it was obvious it wasn't Fanny. Gracie asked him during breakfast, but he said that he had no idea what she was talking about. We thought it was better to just shake it off. We had some figuring out to do. Like, what did Dylan means with: Reverse and ignore, Katherine. Next to it there was a pair of headphones that I was guessing he had drew. But even though we knew he was talking about a song, which song was he talking about? And why would I ignore it?
Since I couldn't solve that, I decided to try to solve the Lorena scenario. No one had seen her; no one at all. She was like a ghost. People were worried and deeply concerned. From the rumors I've heard, the cameras caught her on tape as she stood up from the bed, hopped on a wheelchair and rolled her way out of there. I thought it was crazy and absurd, but I'm not so sure if it is pure coincidence that they say that she left with a guy in a hoodie. I was hoping it was.
"Kate! Hurry," Bryan snapped me out of my train of thoughts. I took a tighter grip of my bag with a hand and hid the other in the pocket of my blazer before walking behind him into the auditorium.
But as I entered and realized that Tyler wasn't there, I kind of stopped my tracks.
"What happened?" Bryan asked me.
"Tyler...Where is he?" I asked straight away.
"He left yesterday night. Cynthia took him back to Florida to visit Jessica." Just like that, he kept on and took his respective seat.
I followed suit, but I wondered why on Earth the birdbrain left without even biding his goodbye's? Well, if Bryan knew, I am beginning to guess he simply didn't bid his goodbye's to me. As I sat down, I let a sigh escape. I couldn't be mad at him for this, right? He had warned me he was going to leave. I just hope that everything turns out well for him. After all, he was really worried- only he knows why. What's the deal with Jessica, anyway? What is wrong with her? They say she is terribly ill, but how ill.
Before my questions kept on popping, Mr. Patrick stormed into the stage and threw a briefcase across the stage. Just a few seconds ago, the classroom was filled with chatters. But now, everyone sat dead quiet, staring at out tutor. He took a deep breath before running a hand through his already messed up orange hair. "Just...just work with the songs." He waved his hands in the air in a careless manner before heading backstage. I exchanged confused glares with Claire who sat right beside me. Jerome leaned closer, ignoring the fact that Claire was sitting between us, and whispered, "The last time I saw him like this it was because his five-year-long relationship with a girl named Janette had ended. But now he looks...furious."
