Chapter 15: I Didn't Kill Anybody!

This had to be a nightmare. It was embarrassing and painful. I tried explaining everything to Seth himself, but he said 'he wouldn't buy it'. So what now? We get kicked out of our dream school for trying to get out of a life threatening case? Great job, Seth! You make us a really proud family! And if you can't note the sarcasm in those last two sentences, I've failed my mission to demonstrate how much I hate Seth.

"They'll be interviewing Katherine and her roommates first.", Seth said as we got down from the patrol car.

The entire ride from the hospital to the police station was dead quiet. After Seth visited Dylan, he told Josh that he would be taking us for some questions. Where was Tyler? Only he knows. But I am so not sorry for leaving him with no explanation. He can stick that Jessica girl up his nose. Who does he think he is to come to Oregon unannounced while dating another girl? That was out of the rational status.

Back to the point, I had never imagined I would be sitting in the back of a patrol car. I felt...like a criminal. And it is important to clarify that I am, indeed, not a criminal. Although I might have done some things that might make you think that, but I am not. At least...I hope I am not.

"Then goes Jerome and his roommates.", Seth added once we had reached the doors.

Oh great! Did you know that Jerome's roommates were Bryan, Travus, and...oh right! Airhead Stevens...

"They are all here?" I asked as we made our way to Seth's office.

"Each and one of them were called this morning to come over here.", Seth explained.

And that was when it all made sense. I actually believed him for a moment. I felt so stupid for thinking life could be a fairy tale- well, with a huge mystery twist, but that's just a bonus. I felt stupid for thinking that Tyler would go through all that...just for a girl. He is who he is, and doing that must be against the rules of a player.

What a way to cover up a story Stevens. I have to admit that I am genuinely impressed by his lies; acting like Romeo himself. While in reality, all he wanted was to give us away. Well newsflash, Airhead...I am so not your Juliet.

~*~*~*~*~*~

Metal chairs, metal tables, and apparently...metal hearts were all that you could find in this room. My three roommates stood from a far distance, making sure they wouldn't get too close to me. They gave me this look...this look I so much hated. It almost made me feel as if they were scared of me. But that would be crazy, wouldn't it?

"Katherine Solomon.", a young man in a black suit called, throwing a folder on the table that was in front of me. I was surprised to see him, since I was expecting Seth to come. I mean, after all, he was working on this case. But maybe the entire record there is between us wouldn't come as an advantage for any of us, so it was better to look for another officer.

"That would be me." I replied while swallowing a small lump that had formed in my throat. I had to stay strong in front of them. My legs were shaking, but I had learned to mask it. I kept it more to myself, since my face told a different story.

"I know that. Please take a seat," he offered, but I knew it was a demand.

I did as told, not wanting for my skin to make contact with those cold steel chairs. But it did...and it sent a rush of electricity through my spine. It could have been the before mentioned what cause those chills...or part of the guilt. I knew I had done something wrong, but I had definitely not murdered anyone.

The lights were dimmed, and I felt like if were in a CSI episode. I have seen these scenes plenty of times, where the interrogator starts yelling at the suspect and demands an answer. Also, I have seen that there's someone standing behind that one-way glass that was set in front of me. I imagined Seth was there, waiting to hear this interrogation. Who knows who else was there! But all I actually cared about was that someone who has direct contact with my parents was going to listen to it, and every single word that I will pronounce here will be saved not only in the records they will use against us, but in the memory of my family; and my image was about to be wrecked.
