Chapter 17: Stay Away

I wanted to run out of the room and help my roommate. Honestly, that was my only intention. But I stood frozen. But not because of the man who stood in front of me, but because I was still trying to analyze what was happening. And just when I was about to give up, I realized that this man didn't come alone. He had a friend. A friend who I already knew existed. And those two men were two who I didn't imagine seeing together again. Still, my feet couldn't move. But it wasn't because of these before mentioned men; it was because a thought that was too...life-threatening...crossed my mind right that instant.

It was surprisingly a perk having Seth there, because he quickly pulled out a gun and hurried down to the kitchen. Finally, like if they had hit play, we all dared to run down to the kitchen. One by one, we all went down; including Mr. Patrick. Yes, my music tutor.

"Claire!" Bryan yelled as we entered the kitchen, but she stood there, paralyzed as tears streamed down her face.

Her chest slowly grew and shrank, as if she was afraid to breathe- who knows, maybe she forgot how to. We all looked at each other, wondering who would dare to walk in. But no one was brave enough to even take a breath.

I was too afraid to take a step forward. Maybe the murderer wasn't careful with his or her steps. Maybe he or she stayed, and Claire saw him or her. Or maybe...maybe she saw him! Maybe Harry is here! And with the hope that he was, I sprinted towards her, to see if he was hiding somewhere in the kitchen. But sure enough, he wasn't.

"What happened?" I asked her.

"R-r..." she began, but couldn't finish.

Fanny rolled her eyes and scoffed. "Drop the gun, dude," she told Seth.

"Wait, what's the show about?" Jerome asked as he entered the kitchen, finally breaking the ice that only I had dared try to break.

"Rats," Fanny said with a sigh.

All the guys rolled their eyes in unison- which was really creepy, if you ask me- as everyone finally entered the kitchen. We looked at the bucket that was placed in the corner, waiting to see the same thing Claire saw.

"You know, there were signs out there that read Keep Out," Seth said.

"Yeah, they can get annoying some times," Fanny said with her sassy attitude.

Our attitudes were clearly defined. Fanny was your ordinary teenage girl, only with that hint of sass that we all need- only that hers was, well, scattered all over the place. Graciela was smart, innocent, yet had a strong love for adventure- yet hates lying; something I will never understand. Claire was, well...she wasn't that bright, yet she was so clever that it would take me by surprise every now and then- and I am not just speaking for myself. Me, well...I was me.

"Though they are easy to avoid," she added as she noticed Seth wasn't going to say anything.

He squinted at her while shaking his head. That was before he turned to me. The anger in his eyes made me hold back my sass. I remember how scared I was yesterday as I thought he was watching me while standing behind a one-way glass, waiting to hear every single lie I was about to throw there. But now, having his eyes directly on me, I was wondering where was a good one-way glass when you truly need it.

"Outside," he said with a low but firm tone, pointing towards the main door. "Now!"

Well, that got me running. I was already halfway to the door when I heard him yell, "All of you!"

We gathered outside, in front of Seth's Ford. I looked down to my feet as he stood in front of us, along with Mr. Patrick. Fury shot through his eyes, and Mr. Patrick stood there with his arms crossed over his chest. I decided to take the risk of stealing a glimpse of my hot tutor. I had never seen him wearing something that wasn't professional like. Here he was, though, with a casual T-Shirt and some common pair of jeans. Still, he looked breathtaking.
