Monday morning, Alex knew straight away that she can't go to work. She's sick, as in bedridden sick. She can't even get up and was just having the chills. She hasn't been sick for too long. Back in her time in DesignBlocks, she never recall a single time she had used her sick leave, ever. But today was different.
Rob noticed that the shower floor was still dry and naisip nyang baka nag-overslept lang si Alex. So nauna na syang naligo saka nalang nya gigisingin ang housemate pagtapos. He was already on his attire for work -- navy pants, white long sleeves, light brown coat and brown leather shoes -- when he decided to check on her before leaving.
Rob: Hey, Alex... *knocks on her door* Hey, are you there? Aren't you going to work?
Alex tried to stand up to open the door but ended up falling and knocking off a glass of water on her side table. Nang madinig ni Rob na parang may nabasag, he immediately opened her door and saw her slumped on the floor trying to get up. Nakita rin nyang nagdudugo ang kaliwang kamay ng dalaga dahil natamaan ng basag na baso kaya dali-dali nyang hinubad ang coat at binuhat si Alex pabalik sa kama. Nagulat sya sa taas ng lagnat nito. Kinuha nyang madali ang ang first-aid kit mula sa CR at ginamot muna ang sugat ni Alex saka binendahan. Kinuha rin nya ang walis at nilinis muna ang nabasag na baso at inipon ang bubog sa dustpan. Nirolyo nya ang long sleeves na parang sasabak sa gyera, pagtapos ay kumuha sya ng isang planggana ng tubig, nilagyan ng yelo at kaunting alcohol, saka tinambog ang towel at nilagay sa noo ni Alex. Nagdagdag din sya ng ilang layers ng kumot para makahelp sa pagchi-chill ng housemate. Lumabas muna sya ng kwarto at nag-dial sa telepono, pero iniwang nakabukas ang pinto~~
Rob: *dials Anton*
Anton: Hey Rob! What's up?!
Rob: Is Marcus in?
Anton: Ah wala pa, why?
Rob: Can you tell him I can't make it to work today?
Anton: Ok, sure~~
Rob: And we're supposed to interview two new junior staff, can you attend on my behalf para lang may kasama si Marcus?
Anton: Yeah, no worries.
Rob: Thanks! And... And Alex won't be coming to work as well... She's sick so~~
Anton: Huh? Okay lang ba sya?
Rob: Yeah, I think she's got flu. Don't worry, I'm already taking care of her~~
Anton: Ohhhh-kaaaaay...
Rob: Thanks! Just call me later to update me on anything.
Anton: Yeah, will do. Let me know if you need me to buy anything for Alex~~
Rob: Yup, I will. Thanks again Anton!
Anton: No problem.
Nang dumating si Marcus, Anton relayed Rob's message as a family emergency but omitted the part about Alex being sick. He knows Marcus doesn't know anything about their living arrangements and he doesn't want to risk him knowing that. Everything is already as complicated as it is, and he doesn't want to add more complications. But Josh is a different story. He's dreading the moment he needs to lie again in front of his face to ask about his best friend. Luckily, for the next two days, he's on vacation leave so Anton need not worry about explaining.
