Ch35: Housemates Over?!

SATURDAY.

Naging busy si Alex sa pag-pa-pack ng mga gamit at damit nya, while Rob helps her box some books, magazine, mangas, puzzle books and other crap na asa sala. Walang nagsasalita sa kanilang dalawa. Rob do sometimes glances at her and noticed the sadness on her face. When he picked up the Yahtzee scorecard they had, he felt some kind of heavy feeling while looking at it. He started reminiscing things how Alex is always good at board games and puzzles. Naalala nya yung isang Scrabble game night when Alex put in the weird word "Qi" and even got 37 points out of it, combining it with "Pi". He contested that it's not a word and they even had a bet on it. Alex won in the end and had her 6-pack ginger beer for free the next day.

Suddenly, Alex breaks the silence...

Alex: *in a sad tone* Hey Rob, okay lang ba kung iwan ko muna ung ibang boxes dito? Balikan ko nalang some other day.

Rob: Yeah, no probs.

Alex: Thanks.

Rob: What time will Josh pick you up tomorrow?

Alex: I think after lunch time~~

Just to lighten up the mood, Rob happily asks--

Rob: Hey Alex, you hungry? We haven't had lunch..

Alex: Medyo...

Rob: You want pizza? I'll order one.

Alex: Libre mo? *started to smile*

Rob: Yeah, sure!

Alex: Yey! Pepperoni please!!

Rob: Haha.. Basta food, bigla kang nabubuhayan!

Alex: And of course, pag libre!

When the pizza arrived, tapos na rin silang dalawa sa pagba-box at pagpa-pack. The boxes were piled up next to the luggages in Alex' room, which she left the door open. They sat quietly at the porch, looking at the garden, listening to the wind chimes while devouring the food.

The rest of the day, they spent finishing off the rest of Stranger Things Season 2 episodes.

Hindi nila namalayan na nakatulog sila sa sala sa harap ng TV - Alex' head on Rob's shoulder.

SUNDAY.

Nagising si Rob at nagulat bakit siya nasa sala at naalalang nanonood nga pala sila ng Netflix at doon na nakatulog - this time, Alex is happily sleeping in fetal position on the couch while her head rests on Rob's lap. He carefully gets up and carried her inside her room.

Rob was already up watering the garden when Alex woke up. Alex noticed some pancake ingredients on the kitchen table - complete with fresh blueberries, raspberries and maple syrup.

Alex: Are you baking something?

Rob: Ahhh, finally... You're awake! *turns the faucet off and heads back inside the house*
I thought of making you breakfast as your send-off. But looks like it's more for brunch!

Alex: Sorry. Napasobra ng tulog~~... Hmmmm... weird... I think I slept here sa couch but why am I in my room?

Rob: Huh? *nagmaang-maangan na kunwari di alam bakit*

Alex: Nothing~~ So... you're... making... breakfast?!...

Rob: Yup! So just sit back and relax. Watch your anime or do some puzzles or whatever, and I'll head off and make you something special.

Alex: *smiles*

They decided to eat properly at the small square dining table facing each other, something they haven't done in a while. They were always at the couch, in front of the TV, eating take-away dinners; or sometimes having dinner out with clients.

Alex: Wow. Thank you! This is quite a presentation! May powdered sugar pa!

Rob: *smiles* That's the least I can do.

Alex: Cheers! *while clicking her cup of tea with Rob's coffee*

*referring to the masking tape separation between Rob's side of the table and hers*

Rob: Haha! Ako naglagay ng divider na yan!

Alex: I remember it was one of those few days when you arrived here!

Rob: And we're like each other's worst nightmares!

Alex: More on arch-nemesis!

Rob: Exactly!

Alex was starting to remove the tape when Rob stopped and told her to leave it like that, as a keepsake. They just enjoyed breakfast talking about the history how she met his granddad and what's the story behind the tissue paper transfer of property contract. Rob volunteered to wash the dishes so Alex can do last minute preps before she moves out.

Around 1pm, Josh dropped by to pick Alex up. He loaded and arranged her stuffs in the boot of the car; while she checked her room one last time, and looked at the boxes that she promised to get next time.

On the way out, she saw Rob standing uneasily near the door~~

Alex: Hey--

Rob: Hey--

Alex: I... guess... this is it.

Rob: *smiles fakely * It's not the end. We'll be seeing each other at work!

Alex: Right~~

Rob: *rubs his hands on his shorts because he's nervous for some reason*
You take care of yourself. If there's any problem, don't hesitate to call me.

Alex: Thanks... for... everything...

Rob cannot contain it any longer and just grabbed Alex and gave her a tight hug and whispered "The house is always open for you, anytime," then she headed off out the door.
