56: aftermath

The ambulence sevice were everywhere, tending to lily, me and prince putting me on a strecher and lily and prince in the back.
"Oh james!" Mum cries.
"Romeo where is romeo?" I cried.
"Dad i am here" he says.
"Don't come in the ambulence, i need you to stay see if they get nicole and find her promise you will find her!" I cried.
"I promise and i will tell you when i find her" he tells me.
"James? I thought you hate romeo darling?" She asks.
"Oh quit being annoying mother!" I sighed. "Nicole could be anywhere and you care i am being nice to my son!"
"I do care considering yesterday you never seemed to care about him!" She cries.
"Well mother if you do know he helped save me if it wasn't for him nicole and i would both be stuck in the water he could have left her with me then i would end up drowning" i snapped at her. "So tell me that doesn't show hope he cares".
"I wasn't bothered if he cares i am bothered that... you care" she says.
"It shows he really means something to me.. and not some mistake" i sighed.
"Oh james" mum shakes her head.

After finally being checked over they tell me i need to stay over night in case and the best advice was not to stress even if nic was still out there.
"You should get some rest" the nurse say. "We will find her no doubt and she will be fine just like you".
"I hope so" i nodded and agreed to get some rest.

Romeo P.O.V
I promised my dad i would find nicole i won't let him down i know it.
"Have you found anything?" I asked.
"We found a phone and a body... which do you reconise it?" DS cassidy asks.
"Yes that's her that is nicole." I cried. "Thank you is she ok?"
"She is.. just about but not for longing she has swallowed a lot of water i doubt she will have long.
"Romeo" she croaks.
"Oh.. nicole?" I gasped. "Nicole please can you fight.. just fight for james."
"I can't" she whispers. "I am sorry.. look, i need you to go to my room.. and pull out a let i need you to read, i mean.. i wrote it for him to read.. when i thought warren was still here and in case he killed me.. but considering he is not.. then yeah i think it's right.. look after him romeo"
"No.. no you need to say goodbye to so many people.. like james your mum.. alfie" i said and she closes her eyes. "Nicole... no..NO i need help some one help her please!"
"Ok we need back up get an ambulance i think she has gone, we need you to go now romeo" he said. "I think she said her good bye."
"Please, please try and save her!" He says. "She is my aunty!"
"Son she is gone i am so sorry" he says.
"Oh.. oh no.. i" i stopped everything felt like it was pausing. What was i going to tell him.. what was i going to tell my dad?
"Romeo?" Lily says. "You ok?"
"My aunty.. is dead.. i.. i never even knew her properly.. and she is gone, me and my dad.. we seem to be ok.. but what's he going to say when he finds out nicole.. is dead i don't know.. what to do.. i can't do this" i sighed.
"Romeo where you going!" Lily cried. I needed to get that let to him.

I get to the hospital after finding the letter in ten minutes. It wasn't hard to find a letter in her handwriting with james wrote on it. I carried the letter and went to the room i was told to go to. I see him. My dad.
"Dad.. i am sorry" i sighed. "She's gone"
"Did they find her?" he sits up so sudden his face crumples up in pain as it hurt him. "They did.. and she died right in front of me, she is gone dad and i never got a chance to meet her".
"She isn't did you try to ask them to help you?" He panics.
"I tried.. i really did" i said and tears streamed down.
"Oh.. no.. this isn't really.. i never got a really good bye.. i should.." he couldn't make sense.
"Oh well before i forget.. her read it she asked you too.. she said she wrote it when she came back.. for you." I tell him and hand it to him.
"Thank you" he nods. "You can go if you want and go back to hating me again".
"No.. why would i it was just the moment" i tell him.
"If we weren't in that storm nothing would change anything" he sighed.
"It taught us a lesson" i tell him.
"I think.. it did too anyway you go back and check on.. mum tell her i asked.. and tell her the news.." he says.
"I will." I nodded. "Good bye dad...".
"Good bye.. son" he said and that moment meant a lot to me.

James P.O.V
I open the envelope i smiled at her handwriting but also wanted to cry.

James,
What can i say.. i mean if your reading this i am probably gone and you will be crying your eyes out over me being gone. Well don't your the strongest brother i know! Don't forget that ever because one day you will see that.. and be happy. Weather that will be with harry or maybe.. another man.. or just with your son.. who is romeo (so you may already know that) but, i want to say, no matter what goes on and if i do get somewhere in the graveyard please do let me know what goes on but remember it's not going to be weird just think i am there. Like when you read this but keep your head up big bro, look after alfie and mum, and romeo if you get a long some day.. because i know you will, when you read this smile don't cry i don't want you to be sad.. i love you james my big bro.. (i am getting emotional myself as i write it) you won't ever be alone ok? Just remember you are james nightingale, you do what you need to do always

I smiled at the letter.. i will miss her but it was as if she was right here reading this to me. As if she was really speaking to me.
