"SHE IS A WOMAN OF QUESTIONABLE CHARACTER!" The prosecutor shouted in front of the judge. She squeezed her eyes shut. She could feel it again. Herself becoming vulnerable. She always had been during these years. He continued to insult her more and more. But she just stood in the witness box unable to say anything more as he was telling the truth about her. Illegitimate. History- cheater. Everything intolerable. But more intolerable was his silence. Why was he silent? Despite knowing the fact she was breaking with each and every word, he remained silent.
That is because he's his lawyer. He is the one to whom these words belong!
It actually struck her now. "She wanted to marry Vidyut." The lawyer slammed again. Now she finally broke. Seeing her love for him getting questioned that too in front of him with he being silent. Not saying anything at all. Maybe that's what she deserved. She knew she was going to lose her son's custody. A million thoughts and ifs were going in her mind. She finally opened her eyes, rubbed her nose and lips, now wet with uncontrollable tears and turned on her heels to go. She ran upto the exit only to be stopped by some officers. She begged in front of them to let her go. But the judge gave a gesture seeing her condition, it was clearly a case of molestation, to let her go. She ran and found the nearest car available and rushed off.
Neil just stood too dumbstruck to even act. His Avni was getting harassed like this in front of him, he could see her breaking down by each passing word. Still he remained silent. Why on the earth did he do that? No idea. Just regret. Maybe he didn't act because he was just too shocked. But why didn't he think that this simple gesture of him will do her any good? That she'll get the hope to fight more? Why? He was hitting himself internally for this. But he knew she was wrong. It was totally wrong of her to hide his son's identity from him. He now began to think a little. Question the fact that what he said was right or wrong. Why was he even thinking that? He had no idea. He probably shouldn't. "The Court is adjourned." The judge's decision made him come back to reality. He quickly got up and the first thing he knew he had to do was : meet her. He rushed out but stopped abruptly as a hand came on his shoulder. He turned to see who it was. "Mitali?" He whispered. Even his voice was failing him. "Neil I know what you are going to do. Please don't. You said you moved on." She cried. "Mitali try to understand. Please. It's very important for me. You saw her right?" He begged with an equal amount of sadness in his voice. "I did. You always care about her. Not me. You can't prove yourself to me Neil. Accept it you can't." She said. Anger rising in her. "Mitali I will prove myself to you. But not now. Please let go of me." He began crying. "You can do it by only one way." She said raising her hand. He gave him a questioning look. " Come to the party that my friends arranged for us both. Come with me. NOW!" She shouted. "You can always talk later. She's not rushing off." She continued. Neil sighed heavily. "Mita.." My swear.", She oppressed him more. He knew he couldn't. Or she'll break the marriage. He nodded while crying. Mitali dragged him along with her to her car and drove to her residence.
The party soon began. The people came and began congratulating them. He just greeted them with a small smile, a fake one on his face. His mind was somewhere else. All focus on her. Will she be fine? Did she reach safely? All of these questions were bombarding him minute by minute making him more restless. His phone rang suddenly. Tara? Oh my god! I just hope she's fine. He picked it up but the noise unabled her voice to reach him. He was rushing out now only to be stopped by Mitali. She raised her eyebrows.  She snatched the phone from his hands. "Neil." She warned. "Okay. Okay." He said cutting the call. He went in again. He was so restless now. The guests could see it. They went to them and said Its okay. We'll meet some another day. You seem tired. Neil's happiness was just at peak. Finally a way out! He rushed in his car and drove to her home. Sukoon Ghar. Where he really found solace. He was welcomed with the sight of his beloved son crying hardly. He was muttering something continuously. "Mom....Please. Fi..find her. She's somewhere. She is normally back by now. Please." He said crying. Meaning she wasn't back yet. His doubt was surely right. Mogli now saw him. "YOU? Why are you here bow. Go away." He said pushing him. He was thrown out forcefully.
But one question was haunting him.
