This is my 2nd book!
Avni broke down again. Not with the words that the lawyer spoke against her but with the silence he was housing. Her Neil, was silent despite knowing how badly she was getting harassed and hurt.
To top it all, he went to Mitali'...

However, I'll answer this : This book solely aims at making AvNeil a normal couple, not an ideal one. So when Neil commits mistakes, Avni would get angry, than trying to sort it out when he realises it.
And, perhaps, silence is the best answer you can give to a person who does not value your words. ❤🙁🙁😁
Don't delete these lovely comments, this made my day, happy reading :)!

"Happy Birthday to you, happy birthday to you, happy birthday dear Jaan Di, happy birthday to you. From good friends and true, from old friends and new, may good luck go with you, happy birthday to you!" The gathering at Sukoon House sang together for their beloved Jaan Didi. Avni felt overwhelmed by emotions, they stood with her no matter what, this was her primordial family, she could open out to her, at any time.
Just when Avni thought that she could say a few words to Neil, he had forgotten her birthday. And that's exactly why she was here since morning and cutting the cake with them all and not him.
It was a simple chocolate cake because all the kids loved chocolate and it was one of those treats for them. Obviously, an orphanage does not run high on funds for partying. Donations mostly went for school fees. And well, none of them wanted to get adopted.
"Sorry Jaan didi, we could not get you a big gift. We made this for you though." Samrat brought a canvas on which all of them had contributed to bring a simple, subtle painting of them all.
"Are you kidding? This is the best gift." Avni kissed his forehead and hugged the little kiddos. "Thank you so much! Ali brought us this wonderful food, come lets have it together." Avni clapped her hands, when your best friend makes delicious food like that and lets you have it, you devour it.
More than Avni, the kids devoured the pizzas, the burgers, the good Indian dishes and sweet drinks. Avni's birthdays in the last 13 years were average, but she somehow enjoyed even those.
And when Neil didn't come to celebrate, she had no other option left. "Ali, love you yaar. Mowgli let's go, come come." They bid farewell to their family and went to their homes, marking the day's end in a satisfactory way.

"Avni I know you must be mad at me. I realised that it was your birthday after Sayesha posted the photo and I'm really sorry." Neil looked at her group picture again and then the picture taken 15 years back on her birthday, which she celebrated with him. When they danced for the first time as husband and wife,
He heard the bell go ding dong and ran till the order, labouring under the fixed belief that he would only welcome her. Mowgli scanned him and shook his head and went away. Avni was about to do the same but this time, he held her, gently but firmly. "Happy Birthday wifey." He spoke and smiled staring at her lovingly. "Thank you.", She replied and was about to go but he didn't let her.
"Are you coming with me to our room or shall I carry you?" He asked, tucking her hair behind her ear. "NOTA." She answered and got a grip at the floor. Her feet soon lost track of the ground as the muscular guy picked him up, easily bearing her smacks and frantic efforts to get off .
Over the years, she had lost the ability to kick guys in the shins and Neil was taking undue advantage of her. He effortlessly took her to their room, locked the door and then put her down.
"Neil let me go." Avni spoke, neither in anger nor in exasperation. "No, I let you go once, we all suffered. Not now." Neil spoke, moving closer to her. "Just so you know, you mean a lot to me." Neil hissed near her hair, sliding his hands around her waist, making her come closer.
"So you keep on hurting me?" She hissed back, her blue orbs staring squarely at his hazel ones. "I've always been late in realising Av, but I know now. Zara can be made stronger if I don't pamper her. Mowgli is strong because he was never pampered. I've been sensitive to her...I got her after so many hardships, I didn't want to miss out on her childhood. Primarily, this was for me, my first time as a dad. And I thought I was..." He admitted shamefully.
"Neil so how was it my fault? Why did you swear at me like that? You've been treating me badly, and so is Zara. You don't know how much it hurts, I just had Mowgli to listen to me, I could open up only to him. Why punish me?" Her grip around him loosened but he didn't. Let her go.
"You know I'm mad. I'm horrible when it comes to you three. But I love you so much." Avni couldn't agree. Neil realised everything late, true, but his antics made it hard for her to stay angry. He successfully pacified her after he got to know about Neela Ma. And he did, this time too.
"So you forgot my birthday." Avni crossed her arms and stared at him. "I didn't." He lied. He put his hands in his pocket and pulled out a small packet with a diamond bracelet in it.
"Neil you don't have to get me such expensive gifts!" She always hated this habit of his. He could give her so many things which meant a lot to her. "I thought this would look very nice on you." Neil put it on her gentle hand and kissed it.
"What else could I give to you?" "A comforting kiss." Avni suggested. She missed them, she was angry at him but she missed themselves.
He tightened his grip on her, she did too. He kissed her so gently, after so long, after so long they were together in this way. He broke apart, keeping himself close to her. "I missed us." Neil hissed, kissing her cheeks and hugging her.
"I missed you cuddling me."
