Hey!
___________
Although Neil was reassuring her at every point of the day, Avni was still so restless. Neil was trying his level best to keep her anxiety at bay, but in this condition, especially after her past was brought up, this job was a next to impossible one.
Her face had dropped, eyes fixed at the bandage wrapped around her hand. "It'll get fine. Just a minor cut. Avni I was thinking that we all go somewhere and hang out? What d'you reckon mate?" Neil asked, as another attempt. "You know it isn't right. Stop acting to be normal Neil." Avni, said as a response to his another try. "It is right. Stop thinking Avni. You're just affecting yourself and the kid." Neil said. He couldn't afford to see his wife in such a condition. It was as if he was seeing her slowly slipping into depression, as if she was slowly slipping away from him, as if he was going to lose her and the unborn baby. No matter how badly he was trying, she just failed to acknowledge his constant support for her. "Something just doesn't feel right Neil. A bad thing, a bad omen is hovering above us and we can't decide what that is. I can feel that. And my instincts never go wrong. But I wish them to be wrong. I don't want more trouble. I want a normal life. I can't fight if another war begins." She said, sighing deeply. "It will happen only if there is a war. And in this case, I see no bad. I feel good. Because our baby is coming Avni. And stop being a pessimist Avni. Be alone. Think over it. Let go of all the thoughts. Okay?" Neil said cupping her face and touching her stomach. He stood up and went leaving her to her own thoughts. She stared outside the window when her eyes caught a tree. She wished she could be a single leaf on the tree, living a short life. Being born, turning a little big, blossoming, drying and dying. All over. No complications. Just keeping to herself. No one would ever even know about her existence! Why weren't things that way for her? Instead she was becoming the root and everyone was dependent on her. Mowgli, Neil, Prakash and Bebe. If she falls, everyone falls along with her. If she dies, everyone dies along with her. Why wasn't she allowed to live according to her own will, die according to her own. She had no idea. Things just meddle along with her and she gets stuck. And now, was the about to be born child. Adding more to the already increased stress.
Life's journey never ends. Zindagi ka safar chalta raha, safarnama likhta raha. She wanted to put an end. But she just couldn't. Her safarnama wasn't a pleasant one. She hadn't even had a Naamkaran. Nama kaisa. Zindagi ka safar khoobsurat hai manzil se bhi. Manzil kya hai? No ome knows. They just mention this, leaving people to think. If it was death, Avni wanted to experience it. If it was really beautiful, couldn't she have it? After all nothing really beautiful happened in her safar. Except for Neil, her two children. Then again it was them who were stopping her to do it. Her chain of thoughts was broken due to something that came in her room from the window. There was a stone with a paper, a letter attached to it. She stood up, limping and went near it. She unwrapped it and read it
A war never ends perhaps in our case Avni. You tried so many times, I couldn't be defeated by you and your army comprising of your husband, your friends, his colleagues and your entire family. This time, let's see what the results turn out to be. Who all are you planning to include? Your child? Alright? This time it's going to be fun. Naajayaz ke saath to bura lagta hai, par tu. The war has started Avni. Hamla nahi kiya, matlab ye nahi ki....
Your ever lasting enemy
I hope you know who I am.
Avni dropped the letter. This can't be. This just can't be! Everything got destroyed in that fire. Everything! Then how is it even possible? Shocked, she looked out and heard that familiar devilish laugh. She screamed out for Neil. "Avni what happened? Avni?" Neil asked. "Vo...Alive.. Wasn't killed." Avni said stammering due to her tears. (I'm not mentioning the name people! Leaving for u to guess!) "Avni you're really going off. Just rest." Neil daid, shaking his head. "I.." she started but he had already gone. "Mumma, I trust you." "You don't even know-" Avni said, crying. Mowgli wiped her tears. "I trust you. If it's really happening, just tell me?" He asked.
You don't know! I don't even want you to know!
