"Avni we're going out with the kids on their trip. Will you be able to take care of yourself and Mowgu?" Sunehri chirped. The kids were going on a school trip and Avni wanted Sunehri and the twinnies to go with them. She nodded simply, hiding her burnt hand. They both smiled at each other and while the kiddos stormed to their bus to go to their adventure.
Avni sighed. Now she had to face a crying Mowgli. She went towards his room. He was sitting on the window sill, crying.  "Mowgli. Bacha no crying. You're so strong." Avni said while hugging him and picking him in her lap. "Mumma I want to go. I'm big enough. Please." How to tell you that I can't survive without you. "Bacha-" "Mumma please. I want to go out and make new friends. The camp is such a great opportunity." She realised how she was restricting him. It was similar to her childhood and she couldn't put him in the same situation. "Okay." She replied in a small voice. She called Tara and asked her to stop the bus for a while. Mowgli had already packed his bag. Avni dropped him to the rest of them. She put on a fake smile, to reassure him. She came back, wiping her newly formed tears.
Great! She was all alone now.
She thought of engrossing herself in the orphanage's work. She checked on the funds received. Too low. They won't survive another week. She was falling short of money. She slammed her burnt hand on the table in frustration. Why does a situation like this drown itself onto me always?
She went to kitchen to make something for her. Her head was throbbing badly. Bad luck again. All supplies over. Not even a gram left. She rolled her eyes and went to the nearby café store. She knew the café lady would help her somehow. But the amount of money left with her was also too low.
Accidentally, Neil was also there and smiled seeing her.
She went to the counter while Neil stood close, eavesdropping.
"Can you please help me out? I'm falling short of money to buy the supplies. You give me this stuff-" She said handing over some bags and their exact money. "And the rest. Can you-" But the lady cut her off. "I'm sorry. My greatest sympathy with you but not anymore." Avni nodded sadly. She took the stuff she was able to pay for and left behind the rest. "Neil was on the verge of tears, seeing her like this. He went to that lady and paid for the things she wanted to take. He took and headed towards her home. She had mistakingly left the door open. Neil entered in and found her working in the kitchen, trying to cut the vegetables but was unable to as her hand didn't allow. She hadn't bandaged it. Neil kept the things on the counter. The sound made her look that way. "You? And this-" she started but stopped seeing his true concern. How badly she wanted to hug him right now.
"Tha-" "No need. " He cut her politely. "Want some help?" He asked while she shook her head and replied while chuckling "You're a disaster to the kitchen." "Well so were you." He pointed. "When life or we gave you lemons-" Neil started, laughing. "I made an apple juice. I surrender." She finished, laughing softly. They both looked at each other and burst into laughter. All she needed was a bit of humour to light her down and he gave it. The reason Neil wasn't coming straight to the point was
When he talked to his family regarding seeking forgiveness from her, Shweta turned against it saying you-need-to-move-on. Prakash asked him to try many a times. While Bebe gave the kind of idea that seemed to work. "Be friends from enemy first. Things will unravel on their own." That's what he was trying to do.
"You need any financial aid? You know you can come to me? Till when will you keep selling things to fulfil their accomplishments?" He asked raising the bracelet that once Av owned but sold for money. "You bought it back?" She asked in disbelief. She shook her head. "I'm sorry but I can't. I'll not eat if things turn worse, but not a favour." She said.
     Now what to do?

"Fine then. I'm donating money. It's not an issue right?" She rolled her eyes. She knew how stubborn he was.  She went back to work but was unable to do it properly. Neil took over the frying pan she was just about to drop. "Careful. Your hand.. Avni I'll do it. In fact, I'm going to stay here to help you out till no one's here." She tried to object but he put a finger to her lips. "Go and rest." He commanded. Avni's anger vanished somehow as she wanted someone by her side. She shook and refused to go. Neil gave a warning look. "Or?" She asked. "I'll take you" Neil replied. She couldn't understand but gasped when Neil picked her. "Neil let me down." She ordered. She was now an inch above and far from his face. She pointed her index finger at him. She was lifted off her feet, while he was grasping her from her waist. Man, that guy was incredibly tall. Even her toes didn't reach the floor. "Okay!" Neil tried to leave immediately but Avni knew she would land badly. Neil let go while she draped her hands around his neck tightly to avoid the fall. Her legs were almost tangled to his. "Now what?" Neil asked smirking. "Fine. Take me." She huffed and clutched him tightly while Neil regrasped  her waist tightly and made her lay on the couch softly. "Now sit here while I dress the burn." He tried to go. "NO!" She shrieked. Neil held his face confusingly. "It was hurting." "But you need to-" "No please." Neil accepted his defeat. "I'll clear the house, if you're gonna stay here. It's a complete mess." She told and moved to handle the stuff. Neil went to the kitchen, glancing at her a few times. She felt dizzy a few times, but resumed, shaking her head. Finally her health gave up and she backed out.
Hearing a sudden thud on the floor, Neil turned off the gas and looked. "AVNI!" He bellowed. He rushed towards her and patted her cheeks while a lone tear escaped his eye. Seeing her not responding, he picked her up, one hand on her back and the other near her knees and carried her to the bed. He quickly called up the doctor who arrived soon.
The doctor examined her.
"She hasn't eaten from a few days, resulting in this condition. And constant stress added more. Make her eat to the full and keep her stress-free. She's fine for now and will wake up soon. Take care." He said and went.
Why don't you care for yourself Avni.
He went back to make something for her and made her favourite Poha.
He then went and sat beside her remembering what she said that I'll not eat if things turn worse.
Avni's eyes flickered a bit and she woke up, but almost fell back, holding her head. Neil supported her from her back and made her sit. Neil just gave a look that he was going to burst. "Wh.. What's this aroma?" Avni asked diverting the topic. Neil handed her the bowl of Poha. "E. A. T." He ordered. "I'm not feeling like it. " She complained but he stuffed her mouth with a spoon.
"Now see how much improvement you're going to get Avni Khanna." Neil huffed like a teenage boy.
Avni was somewhat happy seeing his concern for her and melted as well.
Bebe's trick was working.
