Me: I will be back tomorrow....

My hands are shaking. I press send. I'm still standing outside by my car. I close the passenger seat door and then I proceed to lean my back against the car.

Samuel: Are you sure?

Am I sure? What is that supposed to mean? Why is he asking me that?

Me: Yes. I am sure.

Samuel: Okay.

Okay?? I sigh, put my phone in my pocket, and head back inside my parents house. It's been a long day and I just want to take a shower and go lay in my bed.

~ The Next Day ~

I arrive at Samuel's house right on time. His mother greets me and leaves quickly. His father is always gone before I ever get here. He practically lives at his job. I'm not even sure what he does for a living. Obviously, he makes pretty good money doing whatever he does because their house is very nice. Plus, they can afford to pay me to stay here with Samuel.

I'm still conflicted over what happened yesterday. Samuel was very upset with me. I don't know what I'm supposed to say to him or how I'm supposed to act around him now.  My days here usually consist of making his meals, giving him his medicine, making sure he is okay, and I've even started to do some light cleaning around the house.

I can't stop thinking about quitting. There are so many reasons why I should quit being Samuel's nurse. So many reasons.....I sigh. I go to the kitchen and make some scrambled eggs and toast to bring him for breakfast. He has been requesting it lately. After I'm done, I get the food and knock on his bedroom door.

"Come in!" He yells.

I sigh and open the door. "I come bearing gifts." I put on my best smile.

He doesn't say anything. I grab his tray and hand it to him. He places it across his lap. I place his breakfast on the tray.

"I'll run and go get you some milk." I say, quickly.

"No. That's fine. I have water." He tells me.

"Okay...." I'm avoiding eye contact with him. I can't help it.

"Thanks." He says, stiffly.

"You're welcome. I'll let you eat." I avoid his gaze and practically run out of his bedroom. That was a lot more awkward than I thought it was going to be....
