My mother answers the door this time and she does not look happy to see us. "What are you doing?! Why would you come back here after how you left like that?!" My mother screeches. I roll my eyes, heavily. "Chill out, mom." I walk past her and into the house. I look behind me and see her move back to let Stephanie and Samuel in.

Brittany is in the kitchen when my eyes land on her. Her eyes widen when she sees all three of us. "I can't believe you came back." She says. She almost sounds sad. Almost. "Where is my brother?" Samuel asks, rather loudly. Brittany winces at his words.

"Mom put him down for his nap. He fell asleep not long after you all left." She tells us. She is sitting at the kitchen table. Her iPhone is laying right in front of her. "Who have you been texting?" Stephanie asks. Brittany narrows her eyes at Stephanie. "That's none of your business, is it?" Brittany snaps.

My mother did not follow us into the kitchen. I'm sure that she is trying to avoid this whole situation. I would if I could. Trust me.  "You are a crazy one, huh?" Stephanie laughs. Brittany glares at her but doesn't say another word to her. She sighs and looks directly at me. "Why did you come back?" I look over at Stephanie and Samuel to find them both already looking at me.

"We came back because we want answers, Brittany. And we deserve those answers. To absolutely everything." I tell her, honestly.

Brittany crosses her legs and leans back in her chair. "I suppose that you are right......" She sighs. "Please take a seat....this might take a while." She gestures for us to come take a seat. Stephanie and I take a seat at the table. Samuel wheels over closer to me.  I lean over towards Samuel and whisper in his ear, "Are you ready for this?" He looks up at me and whispers, "Ready as I'll ever be."
