They Can't Survive Each Other

29 2 1

The two of them are so different.
One you can look at and you'll feel so warm inside.
The other one you look at and you'll feel so cold and empty.

They're like the winter and the summer.

You look at him and all you feel is happiness because that's all he ever seems to express.
He always has a smile on his face and he laughs so easily at things.
His smile seems like one of the purest things in the world.
It's so valuable and precious.
He feels like a warm summers evening.
Right before the sun finishes setting and the sky is a blaze of reds, pinks, purples, and oranges.
There's a slight breeze which feels refreshing and cool in the summer warmth.
Everything is perfect.
And if you look into his eyes they're the color of freshly brewed coffee.
Not black coffee.
Black would be too dark and powerful,
No,
It's like coffee with cream and just the right amount of sugar.
Not too much,
But not too little so that you can't taste it either.
It's the perfect balance.
You look at him and you feel warm,
And happy,
And safe,
And you can trust him.

But if you look at him,
You feel afraid.
You can feel the coldness coming out of him from across the room.
There is no happiness coming from him.
And when he smiles,
It almost doesn't seem real.
It seems fake and not genuine,
Like he's forcing himself to make that smile,
And if you look into his eyes you feel coldness.
Like the middle of the worst snowstorm,
Where you can't see an inch in front of your face and you're drowning in the deepest snow.
Everything around you is freezing,
And you're sinking deeper,
And deeper,
Into the snow that never seems to stop falling.
Or like the ocean,
The deep ocean.
The part where it's so dark you can't see anything,
And the pressure is so strong almost nothing can survive down there.
You look at him and you feel worried,
And scared,
And unsafe,
And you cannot trust him.
He's like a ticking time bomb and one wrong word said to him can set him off.

Both of them are so incredibly different,
Yet somehow they form this bond that keeps them together.
They form this friendship with each other,
And I can't help but to wonder
How long it'll survive
Until summer meets winter,
And coffee meets the ocean.

The warm summer cannot survive in the freezing winter,
The settling snow cannot outlast a hot beam of sun,
And the small amount of coffee cannot survive in the massive ocean.
So we'll just have to wait and see how long they last,
Until they destroy each other.
