Chondrosarcoma.... I didn't know what the fuck that was, even after hearing my sister say it out loud and explain it, I was having a hard time processing it, this shyt felt unreal, it felt like a real sick joke because growing up my sister was good for playing sick to get out of going to school.... but the tears streaming down her face and the completely devastated look on Leonardo's face to me this was all too real. The room was completely still.... quiet, I could literally hear everyone's heart; Leo's sounded like it was breaking, mine was racing a million miles per second but Lisa... my big sister, my ONLY sibling..... her heart sounded slow and steady... she really was the heart of this family because even with the news she had just delivered she managed to smile. First, she walked over to me and brushed the tears from my eyes before hugging me.... here she was, she had just told me and her husband that she had a form of bone cancer and she was comforting me. Then she walked over to Leo who had his face in his hands, I couldn't tell you what she said to him but whatever it was made him cry harder.

"I should tell Lucci... y'all look like y'all have a lot to discuss and....." I said trying to walk out the room but Lisa grabbed me and pulled me back. "Sis he needs to hear this from somebody and I feel like I'll be able to break it to him the easiest, Leo is a fuckin mess and you... no offense sis but if you tell him it'll feel a million times worse." I said because this was something I had first-hand experience dealing with.

"We're not going to tell Luciano....." Lisa said causing Leo's head to snap up. "Hear me out before you shoot me down. I saw what happened when my mom told Larenz that she had cancer... it almost destroyed him but what was even worse was actually seeing her waste away, I don't want that for Luciano. I want my son to grow up living a happy life and in order for that to happen, I think... it's best if I left." Lisa said quietly.

"What sense does that make?" Leonardo asked and I was curious as to her line as thinking as well.

"If I stay... Lucci will have to suffer immeasurable pain, seeing your mother dying before your eyes is life changing, it will destroy the sweet innocent boy that we raised, but if we make it seem like I just up and left, sure he'll have mommy issues but he has a damn good father to help him deal with it, it's the lesser of two evils." Lisa said.

"BUT IT'S STILL EVIL LISA!!! WE SHOULD DEAL WITH THIS AS A FAMILY!!!! LET ME.... Let me try to find a way to save you, I have the money, I can get the best doctors in the world.... just please don't do this." Leonardo said walking over to her and dropping to his knees. "Please, give me a year... if we can't fix this by then, we can go with your plan." Leonardo said and from there we did everything in our power to save my sister......

Lucci sat across from me with a blank expression on his face, he seemed to be stuck on my word but I knew it was killing him on the inside.

"Luciano I know you have questions.... so whatever you want to know go ahead and ask, nothing is off limits." I said looking at him.

"If what you're saying is true then why tell me now? Why would my dad lie to me all these years? Why would he get remarried, if my mom was the love of his life? If this happened years ago how is she still alive if it's as bad as you claim?" Lucci asked heatedly.

"Because your mom's cancer came back... when she left you and your dad she started going through therapy, she even had a piece of her hip removed. We thought she had beaten it, but the cancer came back more aggressive than before.... to say she has until the end of the summer is being generous. As for why your dad lied all these years, that was by design; your mom figured you'd hate her for leaving but it was better than having you watch her die..." I said looking at him.

"So.... instead of letting me spend time with my mom before she.... y'all figured it would be best for her to up and leave, having me think for all these years that she didn't give a damn about me, that's kinda selfish don't you think?" Lucci asked wiping his eyes.
