This one does mention abuse. I thought I should say before I continued. Okie.
Josh squints his eyes at the boy across the backyard. He was smiling, blushing heavily, laughing with other people. And Josh just took another sip of his wine. He doesn't know this boy, not exactly, doesn't know where he's from. Doesn't know how he knows the family.
But miraculously made himself the center of attention.
It may be the glowing cheeks, the pearly smile, the small frail body that'd probably fit perfectly in his arms, but he hated it. Josh was the best man of this wedding, he had plans to be the guy to swing chicks, tell them embarrassing stories about the groom, his best friend.
But no, this, flower boy, literally the boy who walked down the aisle, in an amazing light blue suit, with white flowers in his floofy hair to match the colors of the wedding, was the one dragging petals under the sun with a wide smile and pep in his step.
He finished off the champagne, slamming it, without thinking, onto the countertop of the bar and making his way across the outdoor reception. He was on a mission, eyes still squinted, hair flailing in his face dut to the slight wind, but then pushing himself into the conversation where the other boy was.
No one blinked an eye at his presence, and Josh looked down to his left to meet the eyes of the flower boy. He saw the way the boy smiled, and the blush already on his cheeks had gotten darker.
"Hey Josh, right?" a girl that was talking about something random came to a stop and looked over at the said man. He averted his eyes from the light blue angel, looking at her instead.
"That is I."
"Hey, Johnny always talks about you. Talks about how like your like the party animal," she raises her hands and wiggles her fingers in spirit fingers move. "You still like that or..."
"Those days are behind me, uhm...."
"Ashley."
"Ashley. They ended when John got a fiance instead just a girlfriend. I was a bit on edge at first, but then maybe he was right. We had to grow up a bit, so I'm trying to settle down." I heard a clearing of the throat beside me and I just smiled.
"Oh well, that spot seems empty."
"Eh, I guess. No one here is really catching my eye. I've seen a couple pretty boys, but" he just shrugged and just smiled. But without the other's in the circle noticing, he then rose his hand to the flap of the young boy's vest and tugged on it a couple times.
Once again, that adorable blush blossomed and Josh was done. He excused himself, going over to talk to the groom and the bride of the wedding. Smiling with them a bit, he wasn't supposed to make his toast until later in the night, so for now, he was gonna make the best of it.
"Tyler!" Beka called, her eyes averted to behind Joshua. Josh moved to be closer to John and let the said boy wrap his arms around the Beka. "Oh my gosh, thank you for doing this so last minute, Charlie said her kid got sick and it was infectious. Don't want none of that for my trip after all this is over."
They shared a laugh and Josh watched as John just rolled his eyes. "It's cool, I am so glad you asked me. It did make me a bit sad I was demoted. But I'm still got to stand up there with you." The small boy, Tyler then turned to Josh. "Can I, steal him from you guys, if that's okay?"
The bride and groom just extended his hands, Josh just crooking his arm and allowing Tyler to link arms with him. They walked around for a bit before Josh spoke in turn, "I see why you left so early this morning."
