When the shadows were down cast and the sun fell behind the horizon. The moon shone more brightly than ever before and Shadow realized what she had been born to do. She was born to survive in the harshest winter, the deadliest heat, when the war seemed to rage on forever, when the pain became so unbearable that even the strongest men would fall captive to its strength. She was born to survive.

Her fellow Shadowars walked up in silence and when they drew closer they bowed their heads. Shadow was a Surviver and the next Cutsamoto. Mikal was the only one who kept his head held high. He was the head Shadowar and the second in command behind the Cutsamoto.

"Praise to the next Cutsamoto." He whispered in her ear.

Shadow turned to look at him and her features relaxed when she realized who it was. "Not here and not now." Then turning to face the entire group of Shadowars that were still standing behind her with their heads still bowed in silence.

"Shadowars!" All of their heads shot up and looked at her with eyes filled with every emotion.

"Standing by!" All the assembled Shadowars yelled in unison.

"You may stand at ease but remember," she let the word 'remember' hang in the air for a few moments. "Remember that today will be remembered as an infamous day where nothing will be as it once was." She took a few moments to look around and saw pools of blood and ominous red stains on all the weapons either on the ground or in the hands of the Shadowars.

All the Shadowars took what she said to heart and they bowed their heads in silence for the next few minutes.
