Chapter 12: Shadow's P.O.V

I felt the searing pain behind my eyes again and I felt my muscles weaken. This time though, instead of blacking out I was fully aware of what was happening. I looked around and heard a strange noise. I stood in front of Stestial but she remained with a face of shock. I looked around trying to find out what was wrong and noticed the flat line registering across the monitor.

"Stestial?" I yelled.

She remained unchanged and I heard her start muttering a prayer. "Dear gods above help my friend live and do not let her die. If she dies I will never forgive myself." She kept repeating and my body never stirred. What was happening?

"Okay, I'm supposedly dead and my friend is praying." At that moment Matsu rushed in and collapsed to the ground.

"Really, I can't revive two people at once. Someone page Dr. Kimer." The doctor trying to revive me said quickly.

"Shadow!" Matsu said urgently.

"Matsu?" I asked quickly and turned to face him.

"Go back to your body. You can't kill right now." Go back to my body? You can't kill right now? What the heck?

"What do you mean?" I asked in shock.

"I mean that you need to kill in order to survive. So if you don't want to kill then I suggest you go back to your body." He said frantically and I obeyed.

I sat up in the bed and looked around. "Hello?"

"What? How? You were dead." The doctor quickly said.

"I'm sorry." Said Matsu standing up and smiling.

"What? How? You were also dead. We checked your pulse." Indeed they had but they hadn't registered the soul part. Both Matsu and I had cuts and bruises; we looked like our bodies had ripped apart from the inside out.

"Sorry, we do this occasionally. Don't worry, we're fine now." FINE! We were far from fine.

"Why have you never came to a doctor about this problem?" The doctor asked as another doctor walked in.

"What is it Ammer?" Said the new doctor who must be Dr. Kimer. He looked around confused because except for a few cuts and bruises we were okay.

"They... they... they were both dead but... but...." His voice trailed off while he looked around.

"Well, they look pretty alive now." Said Dr. Kimer sarcastically.

"Leave and go home. All of you." Dr. Ammer said to Stestial, Matsu, and I.

Matsu and I walked out of the room with Stestial following quickly. "What happened back there guys?" Stestial asked the second we were out of ear shot.

"We had a moment that was all; nothing more, nothing less." Matsu said curtly.

"Seriously Mikal!" Stestial said as she stomped her foot and grabbed both of our arms forcing us to turn around.

"What do you want?" Matsu said quickly.

"I want you to tell me the truth about what happened." Stestial said with anger evident in her facial features.

"Fine, I am not Mikal." He began and I stared shocked at my father. He was actually going to tell her. That's when Stestial....
