Shadow walked endlessly until she found Mikal and Stestial. They were at Mikal's house and Shadow found the spare key easily. Kooliparie had a certain way of finding people and things. So, he found the key fitted perfectly between the brick walkway and the ground.
"Mikal!" Shadow yelled.
"Shadow?" Mikal asked coming down stairs.
"Hi." Shadow said. "Where's Stestial?"
"Up here! Hey, how did you know I was here!" Stestial called from upstairs.
"Shadow, I haven't had any voice in my head. Is Matsu okay?" Shadow's facial features changed to that of a face grieved by depression and hate. "What happened?"
"He died from unknown causes." Shadow replied.
"Oh, I'm sorry." Mikal said trying to comfort her. Stestial walked down the stairs.
"What's wrong?" She asked when she saw both, Mikal and Shadow's, pained expressions.
"Matsu's dead." Mikal said with a downcast tone.
"Oh." Stestial said with the mood darkening. "Shadow, are you okay?" Stestial asked as Shadow started shaking with rage.
"You're honestly joking right?" Shadow asked creepily. "I'm not okay." Shadow said and a high pitched laugh echoed around the room darkly.
"You're mine." A new voice spoke. "Anyone remember Kooliparie?" He asked dreadfully.
"No. I can't. Not now Mikal." Stestial said.
"It's okay." Mikal said and looked at Shadow. "I'll face you alone." Mikal stated and turned to Stestial. "I love you." He said and ran towards the now fully shifted Shadow.
"I love you too." Stestial muttered and flung herself into the battle as well. After a few moments of loud yelling and followed up shouts. The battle ceased.
"Shadow. Stop this!" Stestial yelled to try and find her old friend.
"Shadow's dead, can't you realize that?" Kooliparie asked.
"No! I refuse to accept that my only true friend is dead!" Stestial yelled.
"Stestial?" Shadow's voice quivered through Kooliparie's head.
"Shut up!" Kooliparie yelled within his own mind.
"Shadow! Find your way back to us!" Mikal yelled.
"I know you can destroy this monster inside you!" Stestial yelled encouragingly.
Shadow fought hard and she finally was able to regain control. Kooliparie's last word was, "No!"
"Shadow?" Stestial asked worriedly. "Mikal, put her on the couch." Shadow had collapsed.
"Okay." Mikal said and bent down to pick up Shadow. He picked her up as if she weighed nothing more than a feather.
"Be careful, she's my friend." Stestial said and Mikal nodded. Setting her gently on the couch he walked away to get a wet cloth.
"Here." Mikal handed her the cloth and as Stestial went to put the towel on Shadow's head Shadow disappeared.
Shadow woke up in a black expanse leaving Mikal and Stestial in a world of confusion.
