My father picked me up and held me close to him. I felt strangely comforted. My body felt weak and numb as he walked for what felt like hours. Eventually, I fell asleep.

••••••••••••A Few Hours Later•••••••••••

"Wake up Shadow." I heard a gentle voice rouse.

"Yes?" I questioned the blurry figure before closing my eyes again.

"Come on Shadow, you must wake up." I heard a clear voice from above me speak. I didn't recognize the voice but the gasp I heard came from Matsu.

"Matsu?" I questioned.

"Shadow?!" He paused for a few seconds. "Wake up already!" He screeched and I felt two heavy hands reach down and jerk me upright.

"Calm down, Shadow needs her rest. I was just hoping she would wake up to see me." Something sounded so familiar yet so distant with the voice. I finally decided to open my eyes. It took a few moments for my eyes to adjust to the bright light.

"Hello?" I questioned when I noticed a muscular women sitting on the edge of my bed.

"Shadow?!" They yelled as if they couldn't believe it. Suddenly she hugged me.

"Um...?"

"I'm so sorry, it's just, I've missed you so much!" She yelled and I felt confusion prickle my skin.

"May I ask who you are?" I questioned and then it hit me. The chocolaty brown curls. The emerald green eyes. Her tanned completion. "Mom?"

"Shadow?!" She yelled and then lunged for me again. I'm sorry, but I'd rather not get a hug, I dodged.

"Shadow?"

"I'm sorry." I said and stood up. My legs felt wobbly but I continued to run away from them.

"Shadow?!" My father yelled down the hallway but I kept running. We were in a big house with many trees and I felt strangely exposed.

"It's okay to fall captive to darkness." A low dark voice spoke so I ran faster. I finally found an exit and ran from the house. Turning around I spotted a tall figure dressed entirely in black.

"Wh-who are you?!" I stammered.

"I'm an old friend, don't you recognize me?" He asked.

"N-no." I continued to stutter.

"Please, don't be afraid. I'm not here to hurt you. I'm here to warn you. The woman in there-" he pointed to the house -"that women will cause nothing but pain!"

"How?"

"I've seen her before, she lurks around the shadows, looking only for one person." He suddenly looked at me with fury evident in his golden eyes.

"Who?" I questioned.

"You." He said.

"Who is she?"

"Well, its obvious, she's your mother but is she the same women your father fell for all those years ago?"

Just then, the bright sunlight turned to darkness. Clouds blocked out the sun. Suddenly my gaze drifted to the man who used to be standing before me. His eyes were now blazing like golden fire against our dark surroundings. Literally everything had been turned black. Nothing was visible except for his eyes. Then more shapes emerged.

Three women appeared in front of us. They each had blazing eyes that matched their clothing. They also had wings that resembled bats' wings flowing from behind them. Their hair matched their clothes and eyes, one was violet, one wore dark green, the last had a deep blazing red.

I'll never forget their words, they spoke in unison. But... I'll never forget what happened after they spoke.

"It's okay to fall captive to darkness." So they were the ones who had spoken those words.

"I suggest you disappear before I allow Ember to unleash his power. Maybe I'll even be able to unleash mine." My mother spoke, she looked exactly like the other women but instead, she was a dark purple with streaks of royal blue. The guy behind me removed his black clothing and suddenly was looking exactly like my mother but with a beautiful golden color.

"What are you?" I asked fearfully.

"Well, sweetie, we're the angles while there the demons."
