Chapter 15

Lucy was curling her hair, getting ready for her date with Natsu, when she heard a knock on her door. She immediately knew it wasn't Natsu, the vampire would've broken into her house like always. Lucy put the curler down and walked towards the door, opening it slightly "who is it?"

"Do you not recognize me, Lucy? It's your father."

Lucy's eyes widened and opened the door "d-dad..? What are you doing here?" Jude walked into the small apartment, looking around "it's sad to see an Heartfilia living in such a small place."

"It's not like I could use the money you gave me. Why are you here anyways? If it's to bring me back, I refuse." Lucy crossed her arms and stood her ground. She would not go back to that prison disguised as a mansion.

"I've come to ask you for money. The company is falling a bit and I need some money to get a jumpstart. You can give your father money, right sweetheart?" Jude held out his hand.

Lucy shook her head slowly, backing away from him "remember the last time you asked me? I didn't have it then and I don't have it now!" Lucy raised her voice "I can barely help myself since my only parent refuses to help me just because I won't be apart of his stupid company. You only send me small checks of money, which is never enough to help! You've never helped me, why should I help you?"

Jude growled and stepped towards Lucy "I am your father, I made you into the woman you are today!"

"You made me fear everyone! I ran away because I couldn't stand staying in the same house as you. When mom died, you blamed it on me. What did you expect me to do?! I was only a child!" Lucy had small tears forming in her eyes "mom was murdered but what did you want me to do..?"

Lucy refuses to let her tears fall so she wiped them away "I was a child..a child traumatized by seeing her mother murdered. Weren't you supposed to help me cope?! It hurt both of us, we could've helped each other!" Jude kept walking towards Lucy, raising his hand in the air. The window flew open and the curtains flew off.

Natsu grabbed Jude's hand, growling "what are you doing to my Luce?!" Lucy stared at Natsu, relieved he saved her from her own father. It broke her heart having to think about it.

Natsu had to save her from her own father.

Lucy did notice something about Natsu, he looked a lot slower. His movements were very slow compared to when he ran to get the flowers. He was also pale.

Lucy knew exactly what happened.

He didn't eat.

Jude stared at Natsu "the vampire..hm..I remember when you used to play with Lucy." Natsu's eyes widened and he pulled away from Jude "you know what I am..?"

"Of course. My wife and I were friends with your father. When Layla died, your father no longer spoke to me. I knew it was because of Layla's death, the two were very close." Lucy grabbed Natsu's hand, squeezing it for comfort.

Just talking about her mother's death saddened her. Lucy stood infront of Natsu "leave..now."

Jude grabbed Lucy "I am your-"

"You lost the privilege of being my father years ago. Leave."

Jude sighed and let go, dusting off his suit "you'll regret this, Lucy." The blonde shook her head, finally looking her father in the eyes "I regret ever trying to become the perfect daughter just so I could please you. That's the only thing I'll ever regret when it comes to you."

Lucy pushed him out and locked the door, laying her head against it. Natsu hugged her from behind, laying his head on her shoulder "are you-" then he smelled her blood. He quickly backed away and covered his nose.

Lucy looked at him confused but realized what was wrong "right..why haven't you been eating?!"

Natsu shook his head "I'm fine.."

Lucy pulled down her shirt to expose her shoulder. Natsu covered his nose with both hands, shaking his head "I won't."

"You have no choice." Lucy smiled softly at him, trying to reassure him.

"It'll be okay Natsu, go ahead."

And so he did.
