Chapter 20

The couple looked at Igneel, confused. Lucy was the first one to speak "what do you need to talk to us about?" They were both very confused until Natsu remembered his conversation with Erza. Natsu gave his dad a look and Igneel nodded "guys, sit on the bed."

The two listened and sat on the bed. Natsu grabbed onto Lucy's hand, gripping it like she was his life (which she is but yknow)

Igneel sighed "I've been keeping a secret from you two. Natsu, you know Lucy is different right?" Natsu nodded. "And you're correct. Her smell is different from other humans and yet, we cannot figure out what she is."

Lucy looked at her hands "I'm guessing you know what I am..?"

Igneel nodded.

"You're an hybrid. Half vampire, half human. Your mother was a vampire while your father was a human. He hated vampires but he made an exception for your mother. He figured that you growing up near vampires would turn you into..monsters like us so he made sure you never knew about us and searched for a cure."

Natsu pulled Lucy closer and rubbed her hand "are you okay..?" Lucy leaned into his chest and nodded "yeah..continue, please.."

Igneel nodded "he never did find a cure but you never showed any sign of being a vampire so he assumed you were human. Turns out, you're a hybrid." Natsu held up his hand to stop his father "why are you telling us now?"

"Because she's dying."

Natsu's eyes widened as well as Lucy's. The two looked at each other then back to Igneel. Natsu was the first one to speak "she can't be.."

Igneel pointed to Lucy's mark "it's faded but it shouldn't be. It's affecting her because her body cannot figure out what she is. A human or a vampire. Sadly, we have to choose for her. Welcome to the life of a vampire, Lucy."

With Erza

Erza sighed and looked at Gray "you think they'll be okay?" Gray shrugged and looked at his phone "I've been texting Natsu but he hasn't answered. Lucy couldn't have died as soon as he marked her, right?"

Erza rubbed her chin "it's probable, we won't know unless we go over there." Gray smirked and ran to the window "race ya."

Erza smirked and the two jumped out of the window and headed towards Lucy's house.

When they got there, Gray went in through the window while Erza came in through the door. Their eyes widened as they saw the scene.

Natsu was panting with blood covering his teeth while Igneel was holding Lucy. Erza ran over and growled "what did you guys do?"

Natsu held his hands up "with her permission, we turned her." Erza still hit Natsu on the head while Gray snickered. Igneel laid Lucy on the bed and brushed the hair out of her face "she'll wake up in about a few days. I'll make sure Grandeeney checks up on her but for now Natsu, she's in your hands."

Wendy ran in and immediately ran to Lucy "I-is she okay..? What did you two do?!"

Igneel rubbed Wendy's back "we had no choice but to turn her. She would've died Wendy."

Wendy looked at her sister figure and kissed her head softly "dad..can I check up on her while she's still asleep..?" Igneel looked at Wendy "you have to ask your brother, I don't think he'll be leaving her."

Erza smiled and grabbed Gray's ear "we'll also visit and get her a meal for when she wakes up. Good luck Natsu." Erza dragged Gray out of the house, ignoring his pleads. Natsu snickered and sat down on Lucy's bed, kissing her head.

Wendy laid her head down on the bed and watched Lucy, hoping she'd be okay.

They both loved the girl and it was the sweetest thing Igneel ever saw.
