Chapter 32

Lucy sat up quickly and grabbed her chest, gasping for air. When she was finally able to breathe properly, she felt around her chest, confused. She pulled down her shirt slightly and looked at the new skin over her heart. Of course the blood was still there and most of it covered her shirt, but her heart was still there.

Lucy slowly stood up, confused as to why she was in a white room. She walked around, turning her head in different directions "Wendy! Erza!" She kept walking around, slowly breaking into a run but all she could see was white "Gray!"

"Natsu!"

Lucy slowly fell to the ground, giving up on finding her friends. She knew what happened to her and she knew where she was but she refused to believe it. She couldn't be dead, she was supposed to be with Natsu.

"You just don't know how to stay dead, hm?"

Lucy looked in the direction of the voice and almost cried. She quickly stood up and ran to her mother, hugging her tightly. Layla returned the hug but pulled away "Why are you here? You're not supposed to be here." Layla cupped her daughter's face, shaking her head slightly.

Lucy placed her hands over her mother's, smiling softly "I can touch you..but I was killed, obviously."  Lucy giggled along with her mother but she stopped when she remembered how she turned into a vampire.

"Mama...you're a vampire, right?"

Layla sighed and grabbed her daughter's hands "I'm guessing Igneel told you...yes, I am. So are you." Layla rubbed her hands "please don't be mad that I didn't tell you.."

Lucy shook her head and hugged Layla again "I'm not mama, I'm not.." Lucy felt her mother's arms wrap around her and she almost started crying again. She missed the feeling of her mother's arms holding her and she finally had her back.

She was the happiest she could ever be.

But Natsu was not.

It had been almost a year since Lucy died.

He was a mess. He refused to drink, eat, or even go home. He always stayed at Lucy's old apartment and he'd read the book that she never finished. He was..broken. It was like he died a second time and there was no way he was going back to the way he once were.

The gang always tried to cheer him up. They tried to bring him food, make him go hunting with them, they even got someone from the school to draw Lucy for him. Nothing worked, the vampire just couldn't get over it. Although he didn't feel like living, he still went to school up until they graduated. Going to school made him forget Lucy for a little bit until it was over, it helped him slightly.

They were all currently in the café that Mira owned, they even convinced Natsu to come. He agreed but he never spoke to them the whole time, he just stayed on his phone and looked over the old conversations he had with Lucy.

Lisanna sighed and stared at her long time best friend "he's miserable..I hate seeing him like this." Lisanna turned to her sister. Mira sighed and placed down a cleaned cup and her rag "Lucy was his mate, Lis. If our mates die, we deal with the guilt and pain." Mira looked over at Natsu "but he knew Lucy since she was a kid..he even got a witch to make him a potion that turned him to her age just so he could hang out with her."

Gray chuckled "I remember the day he came to me, screaming he found his mate. I didn't believe him at first." Gray slowly got up and walked over to Natsu's table, sitting down across from him and snatching his phone out of his hands.

Natsu looked up and growled, his eyes immediately turning red "give it back, ice bitch."

Kagura placed her hands on his head, whispering some words. Natsu tried to grab her hands but he just couldn't move. He was trapped. Gray placed the phone down on the table and looked at Natsu "this is a public place. We don't need you outing us to everyone, got it? Now. We all understand what you're going through but you've got to snap out of it! This isn't the Natsu that we know, man."

Erza walked over and placed her hand on Natsu's shoulders and he almost let out a whimper. Erza had tears in her eyes and it scared him. It scared him to see how Lucy's death made the toughest person he knew, cry. Erza wiped her eyes "we all miss h-her Natsu..you're not the only one" Erza adverted her gaze to look at the gang.

Lisanna was gripping Mira's hand as Laxus disappeared into the back room but Natsu could see the tears rolling down his cheeks. Levy hid her face in Gajeel's chest and Juvia ran over to Gray, holding onto his arm as a sense of comfort. Erza turned back to Natsu "we all loved her Natsu, let us help you cope." Erza pulled Natsu into a hug. Kagura removed her hands from his head so he could hug her back.

Gray quickly joined them, wrapping his arms around their shoulders. Everyone else joined them as Natsu was left sobbing the middle of it. Lisanna wiped his tears "you're gonna be alright, Natsu. Lucy will always be here."

Lucy smiled softly, wiping the tears that ran down her cheeks. She was happy to see that Natsu would finally be able to get better but she knew Wendy was still being comforted by her parents. Layla grabbed her daughter's hand "he'll be happy now."

Lucy nodded and smiled, hugging her mother "yeah..he will be."

A few weeks later.

Natsu groaned as he heard the doorbell. He would've yelled for Wendy to get it but he knew the girl was still coping with Lucy's death. Besides, he was pretty sure she was hanging out with her mate inside her room. His parents weren't home either, so he was the only one who could actually do anything in the house. Natsu slowly stood up and ran to the door, opening it. His eyes widened as he stared at the woman in front of him.

"Porlyusica...?"

The old woman stared at Natsu, her face holding no emotion "you still remember me. I'm surprised, didn't think you could remember anything with that tiny bat brain of yours." The witch walked into the house, looking around "still so..old. You all need to redecorate."

Natsu shook his head and closed the door, leaning against it "what are you doing here?"

Porlyusica sighed and turned to the pinkette "these witches are down my neck about the balance being disturbed. I need to fix it and you are the key to fixing it." Porlyusica explained, placing her bag onto the ground. Natsu cocked his eyebrow and pushed off the door, walking over to the witch.

"What do you mean the balance is disturbed? And why am I the key to fixing it?" Natsu circled the witch, looking for a reason to kick her out. She always gave him weird vibes, probably because she hated everything that could move or breathe.

"Your girlfriend was never supposed to die. She was supposed to live. Since she died, the balance was disturbed. I can bring your girlfriend back but I need her body."

Natsu's breath hitched and he froze. He didn't believe the witch, how could she bring Lucy back? There was no way. He then remembered how old Porlyusica was and a grin made its way onto his face, tears slowly gathering in his eyes "y-you can..?"

Porlyusica nodded and quickly turned around to see Wendy running at her. She opened her arms with a smile and Natsu was pretty sure it was the only time he had seen her smile. Wendy jumped into the witches arms, smiling "Porlyusica!"

The witch hugged her and rubbed her back "it's been awhile Wendy. I'm glad to see you're doing alright after the accident."

Wendy shook her head "a-actually..I'm not doing so well." Wendy held onto Porlyusica tighter until she heard her mate walk over to them. Wendy quickly ran to him and brought him over to the witch "meet my mate, Romeo!"

Natsu scoffed and ran to Wendy, picking her up "Wen..Porlyusica has amazing news." Natsu grinned, not bothering to wipe his tears.

Wendy turned to the witch "what is it?"

"I'm planning on reviving your friend, Lucy."
