It's been a couple weeks since my date with Zyshonne. As you can imagine we have not really spoken much since then. It's just so awkward I have no idea what to say about the date. Thankfully Brooke is back in town and all of us can finally talk about it. I've been holding out on talking about the date with Zyshonne mainly because it's been hard as hell to get in touch with Keisha.
"We're here!" Toni yelled while walking into my house. I walked out of my room and saw them all sitting in the living room. Keisha was less than excited and looked really tired.
"You okay Keisha?" I asked.
"Fine," she said shortly. "What's up? What are we here for?"
"Are you finally gonna tell us what happened on your date with Zyshonne?" Brooke asked while stretching out on the chair.
Keisha looked up from her phone with a confused expression. "Date? When did you and Zy go on a date?"
"If you were around more you'd know everything that's been going on," Toni said. "We convinced Mo to go out with all the guys to see who she likes better."
Keisha sat up in her seat. "No shit? What happened? Why am I just now finding out?"
"You were never around," I said sitting down on the couch.
"So you did it? You went out with all of them?"
I nodded. "My first date was with Jayden. We had good conversation flow but other than the topics it wasn't really exciting. He kissed me but there were no sparks whatsoever. We still talk everyday but I've been hesitant with going on another date."
"What about Jamel?" She asked looking a bit too serious. "What's going on with him?"
"Well, I don't even know if our date would be considered an actual date. After ghosting me for sometime he randomly asked me to chill at his club. It was okay and we've hung out a few times but it always ended up being really sexually charged and we only ever seem to talk about sex."
"What about Zyshonne?" Toni asked in excitement. "I've been dying to hear how it went."
"You might want to hold off on the excitement," I sighed. "In the beginning everything started off okay. He got me a bag of snacks and we went to see some exhibit he heard was going on but it ended up being a temporary thing that closed down the day before. The other stuff were boring so we left and went to dinner. We had to wait a long time but we ended up having a really good conversation. When it came time to pay he realized he forgot his wallet and then on the way home he ran out of gas and we had to walk in the pouring rain. It was really embarrassing and I had no idea what to say to him after that."
"Oh," Toni said looking disappointed. "So you guys haven't talked at all?"
I shook my head sadly. The date wasn't all bad. I really liked the fact that it was obvious he tried really hard to make it special but the date felt off still. Maybe it's because I know Zy too well to pretend he's just another guy. Or maybe it's something else.
"I'm not surprised," Keisha said. "I told you in the beginning that you can't handle a guy like Zy or Jamel."
"Keisha-"
"What? It's true and you guys know it. Jamel is a player Mo. The only thing you'll get out of dating him is a broken heart if you're lucky. Zyshonne has loved you for years and it's cruel as fuck of you to be playing with his feelings like this."
"Wha-I'm not playing with his feelings!"
"Yes you are! Tell the truth Mo, not once since he came clean with how he felt have you given him a REAL chance. You never intended to. The only reason you even went out with him is because you didn't want to feel bad about hurting his feelings. He's really trying but you're not. You won't budge out of that safe zone of yours and with how hectic his life is, he doesn't need your instability."
"Keisha you don't get to be a bitch because you're in a bad mood," Brooke said.
"Y'all know I'm right," Keisha glared. "She's playing with that boy's heart. How hard is it to choose someone you like? If you can't make a desicion then just pick Jayden. You're more worried about the fact y'all are friends anyway."
"It's not that simple Keisha," I said getting upset.
"I'm tired of talking about your love life like it's world class news. Call me when there's something new to talk about." She grabbed her stuff and stormed out.
"What the hell just happened?" Toni asked looking confused.
"I don't know shit's crazy," Brooke shook her head.
"You guys don't really think I'm playing with Zyshonne's feelings do you?" I asked.
"No," Toni said.
"Little bit," Brooke said.
"What the fuck Brooke?"
"Face it Toni, Keisha was right to an extent. Mo can't or won't make up her mind and that in turn is messing with him and you know that. I don't think you should settle on that Jayden guy. He really doesn't seem like your type and I can tell you really don't even like him that much. You need to choose someone you're interested in. Sure, Jamel plays the field but so do a lot of niggas and I'm sure all he needs is a reason to stop. Zyshonne does need stability in his life. Can you ensure him that?"
"Yes," Toni said. "Mo I know how hard it is to make a decision but you shouldn't make a hasty one either. Zyshonne is patient and he knows you need time to get your thoughts together. You and Zyshonne are made for each other. You've known each other forever. Who cares if you're best friends? Isn't that what everyone wants in a spouse? Someone who they can call their best friend?"
"Yeah but what if we don't work out?"
"Stop focusing on the negatives. You've guys built a solid ass friendship. Nothing and nobody should or could come between that. You're more focused on y'all failing and that's exactly what'll happen. Mo when it comes to Zyshonne you're a completely different person are you not? I know you're scared but it's time to suck that shit up. I know Zy is the one for you which is why I don't want you to settle for Jamel or Jayden's creep ass."
I sighed. "It's hard thinking of him as anything other than my best friend."
"Don't you want to at least try?" I didn't answer her because I had no idea. I really had no idea what I wanted at this point and it scared me.
This chapter was a lot shorter than I thought so here's another quick update for you guys. Next chapter probably won't be that long either so you can expect that update soon. Tell me what you think.
