Monique

Another day at work. God I hate Mondays. After leaving the hospital yesterday I went to mama's house to update her on everything that's been going on. It was a shock when I told her about Keisha and her state of mind. She said she would make something for her and go to visit her before they transfer her to the mental facility. They believe it would be best for her to get some help.

Brooke came back immediately after her show to visit Keisha. She had to push some of her concerts back but she did it for her friend. She would only be here for a day or two before leaving again though. But after her tour she plans to take a few months off and just work on producing music for artists here in the city. It would be good to have her home for a change.

"Hey," Toni said walking into the office. "Feeling better?"

I sighed. "I'm worried about her. We had only been gone a few minutes and she already flipped out."

"Yeah," Toni sighed. Apparently, almost immediately after we were asked to leave Keisha flipped and caused minor injury to the security guard posted in her room. That solidified her spot into a mental facility. "She's strong. We just have to keep praying for her."

"Yeah," I said looking off out the window. "We're not doing her any good by just worrying. We're both far too behind in our work to think about anything else right now."

"You are so right," Toni said. "When do you want to schedule this meeting?"

"I changed my mind," I said. "I'm just going to ask the hire-ups to give me new team members. We've given them chance after chance to learn the system and they just flat out refuse. I'm not about to beg you to do your work. I know I'm mostly to blame for enabling them for so long but I always told them to get it together. If they're not going to be serious then they can just leave. I really don't care either way."

"Preach honey. I'm loving this new assertive side to you."

"Thanks," I chuckled. "Zy convinced me I need to take control over my team and really stop doing their work. I'm the one who's stressing over work that isn't mine while they go about their day with not a care in the world. I guess it was time I started listening to you guys."

"Good. How was things with you and Zy? I'm sorry if I interrupted and ruined your date."

"You didn't. We were just going to watch a movie when you called. The date was wonderful. I mean it was more like we were hanging out but the vibe was completely different. I loved every minute of it," I smiled genuinely. I really did love the date. I could see what we did as something we would normally do as best friends but not once had I thought about it like that and enjoyed every bit of it. I decided to keep the kiss to myself because knowing Toni she'd probably have a heart attack.

"Bae material?" she wiggled her eyebrows suggestively.

"Definitely," I laughed and blushed. "Girl we're supposed to be doing work. Not talking about this."

"Fuck work this is more interesting," she laughed.

"This is why we can't get work done," I chuckled turning to my screen. There was a short knock on the door before it opened. One of my pet peeves is not waiting until I invite you into my space.

"Hello Monique," Jayden smiled big at me. I groaned inwardly. Why is it when I get just a little bit of peace something comes along to mess with me? "I hope I didn't interrupt you."

"No," I forced a smile. I guess it's better I get this over with instead of ignoring him. We're still colleagues and have to work together closely on projects. I'd rather it not be awkward between us. "What can I do for you Jayden?"
