We were currently holding a very important board meeting crunching numbers and sale reviews as well as progress update on all of our projects. And guess who was not paying attention at all? Yours truly. It's been a week since the altercation with Zy and I'm still upset as well as worried. I don't know what's gotten into him lately but he's been catching attitudes quicker than females on their period. We have spats all the time but they never last more than two days before either he or I apologize. Depending on who's wrong in the situation. This is the longest we've went without talking since high school and it's making me anxious. I hate not talking to him. He's my best friend after all.

I've even been sleeping at my own house this week and I have to admit it's lonely. Whenever I would get lonely there I would ask Zy if either he or Cadie could come over. But we're not talking so you can imagine that I couldn't exactly ask him to come over. He's a dick but he's my best friend and I miss him so much. "And that concludes this meeting," the CO said. "I expect to see everything we've discussed today by the end of the this week."

"Damn," I mumbled under my breath. This was an important meeting and I didn't pay attention to anything. Not to mention I have a deadline on top of my other deadlines and I don't even know what the hell I need to do. This is the worst.

"Hey Monique," I felt someone tug on my hand catching my attention. I looked at the person who was tugging me and it was Jayden.

"Oh hey Jayden," I said. "What's up?"

"I should be asking you that," he raised his brow to me. "Are you okay? You've been really distracted lately."

"I haven't been distracted," I lied straight through my teeth.

"Oh really? When we first came here I greeted you and you said nothing to me," he said. "And I'm sure you didn't hear a thing the CO said ."

Busted. I sighed. "I'm sorry Jayden. My mind has been all over the place. I'll be fine."

"What has you spacing out?"

"Just some petty life drama," I brushed it aside. I honestly didn't want to talk about it with him. Jayden is a nice guy and all but I haven't known him nearly long enough to tell him about my personal problems.

"Okay," he said lowly. "If you don't want to talk about it that's fine. And if you were wondering, the CO wants the projectiles and and progress reports of the status on everything we're working on."

"Oh okay. Thank you so much." I really have to get a move on with my work then. I'm so far behind in my work it's not even funny. I really wish Toni was here.

"Monique," he stopped me just outside of our office area. "I was wondering, are you free for dinner sometime?"

"Dinner?" I felt my heart jump nervously. Is he...asking me out? It can't be right? I mean, yeah we've went to lunch together almost everyday but I only thought of it as us being colleagues and getting to know each other. It's not like he can actually find a glimmer of interest in me is there?

"Yes you see...I can't make it to our usual lunch today because of important business. I have work I need to catch up on, a staff meeting with my team, and I just recently got in touch with a friend of mines so I'll be meeting up with them sometime soon. We also have to discuss the project we'll be working together on."

"O-Oh," I said relieved but also a bit disappointed. Of course that's the reason. "Sure just let me know when I'll fit you in my schedule."

"Good," he smiled. "See you around."
