Chapter Twenty-two

Jungkook grabbed Rina's hand that was about to touch his cheek again. Jungkook's one layer of foundation was obviously not good enough as it melted away with a few splashes of water. He fluttered his eyes closed, not wanting to look at her at the moment. "Kook, what? Who did that?" Jungkook only shook his head at Rina's questions. She felt her heart break. Rina threw her arms around his neck and pulled him into a tight hug. " You don't have to tell me." She mumbled into his chest but he heard it as if she was saying it directly into his ear. "But just call me if it gets worse." She said after a minute of thinking. "Please let me help you. Don't pull a Hae Soo on me." Rina tried cracking a joke which only made him sniffle. Jungkook was trying to keep his tears in as this was probably the nicest thing Rina has ever told him. "Don't-" Rina shook her head as she was about to tell him not to cry but changed her mind and started drawing random patterns on his broad back. "Ah damn it- cry it out, Kook, it's okay." Her voice soft like a whisper while repeating reassuring words. Jungkook let himself break in her arms, his body was shaking fruiously, he let out everything he kept bottled up for months and every word that left Rina's mouth was comforting and reassuring enough for Jungkook to feel completely safe for a while.

Now that that's over- Jungkook felt embarrassed that he just cried in front of a girl- a girl that he likes to make it worse. But Rina didn't mind, she was glad actually that he let her see another side of him. She loved it. "Let's just enjoy the rest of the day." Rina nodded to herself, waiting patiently until Jungkook agreed. A shy smile was displayed on his lips, taking Rina's hand into his while they continued with their day. The act made Jungkook ecstatic, he was afraid that it would ruin everything that she had planned for him but it only made the weight that was pulling his shoulders to the ground be lifted off.

The two were back in front of Jungkook's apartment after the whole day of having fun. The sun was already set and only a single lamp in front of the double doors was making them able to see each other. Their hands were still tightly holding each other's, neither of them wanting to let go. Rina finally noticed the slight change in Jungkook's big eyes as he was in front of the building. His shiny eyes were showing slight fear, he managed to hide the rest. The fear was eating him and he just wanted to scream and beg Rina to help him, to save him. But he didn't fell like she would do it, he felt like it was impossible, like he deserved everything his parents did to him.

"Your parents?" Rina gently traced the bruise on Jungkook's face. She got her answer as he looked away from her. "Do you want me to come in with you? I could teach them a lesson? Look at these." Rina, mostly serious, tapped his arm to get his attention back on her before opening her mouth to show him her pair of sharp fangs. Jungkook's heart started racing, "No! Th-no." He shook his head. No matter how much he wanted to say yes, he couldn't. If Rina got hurt he would blame himself for the rest of his life, or if she did something to his parents- he didn't know what would happen but his gut was telling him that it's not as amazing as he imagines it to be. "Want to come with me then?" He shook his head again, if he disappeared again he would have been sure that the beating would be worse than last time. He didn't think of the fact that Rina wouldn't let him come back. Rina sighed, closing her eyes while nodding.

"Just call me if it gets worse." She reminded, pulling his body to hers into a tight embrace that lasted for more than at least 2 minutes. Once Rina peeled off of him, she placed a peck on his cheek which caught him by surprise. His ears turned red as a goofy smile took over his face. "You can do it!" She rose up her fists while saying before disappearing into thin air.

Jungkook was in awe. The way her lips are still lingering over the place they touched, the way she just disappeared- it was interesting to see as it seems different when you're with her. He wondered why she was going to the corner before if she could have done this usually. Of course it was because it would be weird if you just saw two teens, a girl carrying the guy, suddenly disappear as her speed isn't visible to the human eye, and she would like to chat and walk normally with Jungkook but at the same time not waste time. And before she even confessed, it would be weird for Jungkook to just see her vanish so she would walk until there's no way someone can see or notice.

He took a few minutes before entering the building and lazily walking to the 3rd floor as he dreaded stepping into the apartment.
