On the Other Side

Gratitude

The feeling of someone stroking my hair wakes me from whatever slumber I was in

"Jeana wake up"

I open my eyes. My mother and father stand in front of me.

I sit up quickly

"Woah careful there sweetie" Dad laughs

"Mommy.....Daddy"

Tears spill from my eyes

"My love, she is so beautiful." my Dad say when he pull away

"I know, she is my daughter." mom laughs

I laugh through my tears too

"I've missed you, since the day I knew I wasn't theirs"

"We've missed you too....we miss you every day "

"Where are we." I observe my surroundings, it seems like we are in a box.

"In Linwood's head"

"So he wasn't joking" I humph

"No, he found a way to keep us in his head. For you" Dad sighs

There is a moment of silence and i know what they will say next

"We're sorry for everything that happened to you."

"No, stop please" I beg

"If only we knew"

"But you couldn't have"

"We should have. If there is any way you could forgive you us"

"I already have. I don't want to spend my time with you apologising. Let's talk"

So we talk and talk

They tell me about them and how they met but I had to ask the question that itched at me the most

"How did you meet Linwood"

"Your father and him were very close when they were children. They were like brothers and when I met him I knew he was a kind man. He has a heart of gold"

"Speaking of men" My mother wiggles her eyebrows

"No mom"

"Yes, stop" my Dad screams

"Linwood told us the full story already. Titus, you being visionary, you running away, turning away from your powers, rejecting your ma-"

"How much do you know"

"Everything"

"Even the part when I you know"

"Even that part" my dad shakes his head

"Actually you should go. I don't want you dying on us" Mom says

"What"

"If you stay here too long you die, that is the one and only condition"

"Please I don't want to go back"

"And we don't want you to either but I want to know I have you alive" she laughs

"Just promise us one thing before we meet again. That you will trust Linwood with all your heart. Train with him he will make you stronger"

"Ok" I huff

"Hey, what about my promise" my mother pulls me back in her arms

"Seriously, you too"

"Win us back our throne"

"You don't have to say it twice." I wink
