The next morning I wake up with a pain in my neck and realize I slept on the sofa. I get up grudgingly rolling my neck hoping the pain will go away. It doesn't

I turn when I hear muffled voices coming from Linwood's room. I tiptoe and press my ear to the door.

"If she asks where I just say I'm running an errand, ok"

"Ok, King Linwood"

It was Elisa and Comet

"Don't give me that look, I'm trying to protect her"

"Sorry, my king," they say in unison

It seems to be the end of their conversation so I run to the sofa and drop down on it pretending to have just woken up

"My lady, good morning" they look nervous

"Good morning"

"Where is Linwood, I thought I heard his voice"

They look at one another, then me

"On an errand"

I smile, it's not their fault they have to lie to me, so I just go along with it

"Ok, any plans for today"

"We are meant to measure you for dresses since you're going to be here a while" Comet smiles

"We want you looking your best" Elisa continues

"Let me shower then"

"There's no need," Cosmo says abruptly, putting her hand out to stop me

"Are you okay?" I ask

"Yes, my lady. We're just under a lot of pressure to get all these dresses done and fitted, so we want to start right away"

I nod in response

Stepping on the white stand Elisa places down

"The sun is setting, can we not continue tomorrow" I huff

"No, my lady"

Every time I tried to leave, they would pull me back saying that they just needed to try the red dress again.

I was only allowed to go to the toilet and Cosmo would wait outside the door for me. Using the excuse that we couldn't waste anytime

The door suddenly opened around midnight

"My king, welcome" Cosmo and Elisa chorused

I turn around eyeing him but I bow anyway

"Welcome King Linwood"

He looks at me up and down before dismissing Cosmo and Elisa saying a curt

"Thank you"

They scurry out leaving everything behind

"You look beautiful in that dress"

"Where were you" I cross my arms

"I was running errands, did the girls not tell you," he says

I narrow my eyes at him as he walks forward holding his hand out to help me down but I ignore him

"I know how to care for myself as you said"

He chuckles

"Yes you can"

He catches me by the waist when I walk past him, pulling me towards him.

"You look amazing and I'm sorry about last night" he brushes a strand of my hair from my face

"You weren't on an errand were you"

He sighs and runs his hands through his hair, dropping his head down.

"Jeana, stop it. Please. Right now is not the time"

I lift my hand signalling to the bracelet wrapped around it proudly

"You promised that I would be ok, right now I don't feel so ok. I feel worried, what's the secret you're hiding from me. Where were you this morning"

"Just go to bed, we can continue this conversation tomorrow" he sighs

He walks away but I pull him back

"The only reason I stay in this damn place is that I have you by my side. I've nearly died more than once here but I still stay because I need you. Isn't that enough of a reason for you to tell me what's on your mind"

He pauses looking me dead straight in the eye. He pulls in a sharp breath before whispering

"Titus is here and he's trying to kill you"
