I leave the room slowly and don't bother turning around before I leave
I round a corner to be slammed against the wall. I feel the cold metal of my sword pressed on my back.
Evan stares at me coldly
"Who do you think you are" he screams at me
I don't answer, I just scowl
"You think Linwood will continue to save you every time, huh. Don't worry it won't be like that in Delectus. Trust me on that"
I look at him, this is just getting pathetic. I don't have the energy for this.

A fire lights in me, one that I haven't felt in a long time.
I knee him in the stomach, grab his neck and slam him into the wall. He screams out in pain.
"Listen good and listen well. It's better to let someone think your a psycho than to open your mouth and prove it. Don't make me hate you more than I already do. Or else you'll be the first one to die"
I release him and push him to the opposite wall, he hits off it

I make my way back to my room, slamming the door behind me. I lock it and slide down, putting my head in my hands.

I throw the note in the bin and take a shower and watch as the last drop of black hair dye seeps out. When I step out of the bathroom, I hear a knock on the door.
I open to see two girls about my age in maid outfits standing sheepishly. They courtesy and say
"We are here to get you ready for the ball, my lady"
"Ok" I smile
I sit at the vanity and let them start
"What are your names" I ask
"Elisa and Comet"
Elisa straightens my hair and place it in a elegant bun, letting wisps of it fall and frame and face while Comet does my makeup. She does simple make up, with silver eyeshadow and winged eyeliner and a clear lipgloss
I learn that they are exactly my age, have been maids for their whole life and are humans. They gushed about how caring Linwood is to them
They both help me put on my dress. They sit me down and begin to add jewellery, a diamond silver necklace and earrings to match. I put on my black strapped heels.
"Thank you for this. At least I know there are some decent people here" I bow my head slightly
They blush
"You will definitely stand out tonight, my lady" Comet laughs and Elisa nods
"Will you be at the ball"
"No, we have to help set up for dinner."
"Let us go, we are running a bit late, my lady" Elisa sighs
We walk out into the hallway and they follow behind me, when we reach the banquet hall door, I turn to find them not there
The guards open the door for me and I step in to see everyone already there. It dawns on me about what Elisa and Comet meant
Every girl is dressed in red gowns, the boys in white suits. It makes me stick out like a sore thumb
"Our select has arrived" the announcer says. Everyone turns to me and I try not to laugh at their expressions. They look irritated and I understand why, I just broke tradition.
A hand grabs mine from the side and I look to see Linwood dressed head to toe in black.
It dawns on me
Only royalty can dress in black at the ceremony
