Jeana's sword^^^^^

I wake up to the sound of bells ringing. I check the clock on the wall.

6:00 a.m.

I trudge to the bathroom but stop short when I notice something

I didn't wake up in the middle of the night, I didn't cry, I slept the best that I have in months. I feel amazing. I look down at the bracelet which is still on my wrist

"Thanks Linwood" I whisper

It doesn't take long for me to get ready and make my way downstairs. I meet no one in the hallway, making me somehow believe I'm late, I pick up my pace, hoping that I'm not. I reach the door of the room we were gathered in yesterday and push it open. It's empty.

I run outside and everyone's seems to be practicing. There are weapons scattered everywhere.

No, I am late

I try to slide my way into the back but the instructor sees me.

"Good to see you decided to show up early for tomorrow. Please come here select"

Everybody stops what they are doing, sniggering at my embarrassing situation.

I mentally curse and make my way to the front

The man who's the instructor looks at me and I try not to gasp. He has nasty scar running from his forehead to chin and another running horizontal across his nose.

I open my mouth to try and explain myself but he cuts me off

"Shock me, say something intelligent." He says with a cruel smile

I put my head down and keep my mouth shut. Inside it burns, no ones talked to me like that before, only Jasper and Tocarra. It makes me want to hit something

"As a select, you must be earlier than anyone, heck even earlier than me" he screams.

I try to keep my composure, I can't injure the guy who's overseeing my training, that could ruin my chance of winning

"Now go" he shakes his head and walks away

The boy from yesterday, Evan, steps in front of me as I make my way to a duffel bag. I try my best not to scowl but fail.

"You sure are doing great to impress everyone" he says smugly. If he wasn't so agitating I would find him attractive.

"I apologise, but you've obviously mistaken me for someone who gives a damn about impressions" I cross my arms

"Oh, have I offended you" he mocks an apologetic tone

I can sense everyone's stares. I really am getting sick of this. I huff in annoyance and turn fully to face him. His green shine with amusement.

"Are you always this stupid or is today just a special occasion" I smile

A wave of gasps come from the others. I guess no ones ever spoken to him like that. I'm happy I'm the first.

His smile drops, telling me I've succeeded.

I turn to walk away but he kicks me in the back of the knee. I stumble but quickly regain my composure. He goes for my head with his fist but I am ready this time. I grab my sword from my back and swing it in his direction. The tip lands on his temple.

I knock my sword against it

"Do you hear that, it is really empty in there" I grin

His eyes begin to change colour and his fangs grow out. I lower my sword knowing best not to provoke him anymore.

"I doubt you two want to your waste energy, so save that for Delectus"

I don't have to turn to know it's Linwood. Maybe because of the people bowing around me or maybe I just know his voice all too well.

"Select, please go back inside. You will be training with me today instead"

I nod in understanding. I turn back to Evan who's deadly glare is no longer directed towards me but Linwood.

I follow him down the hallway to an empty room.

When I close the door behind me he suddenly bursts out laughing.

"What's so funny"  I scowl

"You really do know how to get on a vampire's nerves"

I cross my arms over my chest

"He was the one annoying me, who does he think he is. Is he important here. Who is he anyways"

Linwood stops laughing but a small smirk still graces his lips

"No one"

I huff. I'm not in the mood to argue anyways. Instead I take a few steps closer to him and look him in the eyes.

"Thank you"

"For what" he brushes his hand against my jaw

"The bracelet it helped me sleep."

"Really" he says he leans down to my neck

"How does it do it"

"It heightens your vampire side blocking of your wolf bond" he nuzzles my neck. I'm barely focused at this point.

Linwood pulls away, I pout.

"No more, we have to spar" he puts on a serious tone

"Ok"

I take off my jacket and unsheath my sword. When I turn back around Linwood is shirtless. I immediately dart my eyes up, it's a distraction.

"You know to fight me you have to look at me" he smirks

I keep my eyes on his and his eyes only but that is also a distraction. It's like thousand of emotions are swim in the deep blue of his eyes. It makes me want to know why each of them are there.

I shake my head and go into a fighting stance

We circle each other before Linwood runs straight for me. He roundhouse kicks me but I duck before his heel hits my skull. I prepare to strike him in the head with my sword but he grabs my wrist and twists as I swing, making me drop it. I pull back in pain, but get over it. I grab his legs and pull him down onto the floor. His head slams on the wood.

He gets up quickly and I cringe at the blood stain on the floor. Suddenly, Linwood leaps foward. I jump away from a punch to my jaw with a wince. I prepare to strike him in the stomach, but hesitate when I see the blood dripping from the back of his head

"Don't do that," Linwood says before striking me in the shoulder with a hard fist. I fall backward with a loud thud.

"It's fatal," Linwood breathes offering a hand to help me up. I pull on his arm and use all the core strength I have to wrap my legs out his torso. I elbow him in the neck. He drops to the ground grunting in pain, me straddling him

"Don't let your guard down Linwood, it's fatal" I mimick

He laughs, sweat drips both our bodies and I find it really hard to not look at his body now. It's ripped with lean muscles. His chest built and rock hard abs to show for it.

I lean down

"Let's see the wound" I put my hand behind his head

"Select, it's fine" his face sours as he pushes me off him

I flinch at his sudden change in attitude but understand when I see multiple eyes from the field watching us through the window. I get up and take a few steps back and incline my head.

"Yes, my king"
