"Alex?" You call out, pulling off your gloves and throwing them onto the counter of the nurse's station.

You've just started looking for him, but you needed him hours ago in the OR. It was his patient that was getting surgery, and he called you on—naturally – to help him out with the surgery.

There were only a couple of times when he actually needed the help. But usually, it's so you two can keep each other company during the entire thing.

But it was especially odd because it was his patient. Who doesn't show up for a surgery on their own patient? Unless he was sick, and he isn't, then why?

Maybe he left just before you went in. And if he did, then why didn't he tell you?

You two are dating, and normally he comes to tell you things.

But this time, he didn't. It's making you a little uneasy, so now you got to find him. And ask him why he didn't show up at all.

Your eyes land on Jackson, and a slight wave of relief goes through you. They keep tabs on each other, right? They're guys.

"Jackson!" You call out, making him look up in your direction. He hands the clipboard he was holding, off to the nurse beside him.

"Hey, what's up (Y/n)?" He asks, raising his eyebrows.

"Have you seen Alex? We were supposed to be in surgery together. But I had to do it alone."

He pales slightly, making a face, "I saw him go into the on-call room. He might just be sleeping."

Might be sleeping.

Those are the words that catch you off guard. And the fact that he's so pale.

Oh my god— he hasn't.

"He probably just slept through the pager." You say optimistically, brushing off the thoughts.

"(Y/n), I don't think —" he starts, but you cut him off quickly.

"I need to see for myself, Jackson. Thanks for telling me where he is."

He has a sad look on his face, but nods anyway, raising his hand as a goodbye.

Starting towards the nearest on-call room, you hold your breath. The odds of him being in the first room you check is unlikely. But it's still a possibility.

Swinging the door open, your eyes are met with a sight that you wish wasn't there.

It seems that the odds are against you, in every way possible. The first room door you open, you're met with Alex, his head buried into the intern's neck, groaning.

Your intern. The one that was also supposed to be in the OR with you and him.

How long has this been going on under your nose?

"Oh my fucking God." You snap, throwing the door open and turning on the light.

When Alex looks over his shoulder and realizes it's you. He looks like a deer in headlights. Like he expected anyone but you to catch him in the act.

What if other people have caught him? And those looks of pity weren't for your patients, and instead, they were for you. Because your boyfriend— ex-boyfriend is a cheater.

"(Y/n)." Alex breathes, jumping off of the intern, which makes you realize that it's actually Jo Wilson, your own favorited one, "It's not what it looks like."

How bad can this get? Your boyfriend has been balls deep in an intern this entire time, while he was dating you.

"Really?" You deadpan, face going flat, "You're such a fucking idiot. Of course, it's what it looks like! God, I can't believe I actually trusted you. I should've left you behind like Izzie did."

He freezes, and you cross your arms. A wave of sadness goes through you because he actually promised. And here he was, breaking that promise that you relied on.

"We're over, Alex." You shake your head at him, before turning off the light again, and slamming the door behind you.

Biting your lip, you try to hold back the tears as much as you can. All you have to do is wait until you get into the break room. It's only a couple of doors down, you can make it.

At least, that's what you thought.

You broke down crying halfway there, and Jackson saw you. He dropped everything to cover you pull you to the break room.

When you finally get inside, Meredith is in here, drinking her coffee. She raises her eyebrows at the scene before her.

"What's going on?" She asks, after finishing her sip.

"(Y/n) found out that Alex was cheating on her." Jackson murmurs, shutting the door behind you two.

Meredith's eyes widen slightly, and she sits forward, "He what?"

"He was cheating on me, with Jo." You mutter, sniffling immediately afterward.

You shuffle over to the couch, plopping down on the cushions. You bounce once or twice before finally settling.

"How long...?" Meredith starts, trailing off, Jackson sighs, pulling out one of the chairs.

"Not very long."

Turning to Jackson, you raise your eyebrows, "You knew?"

He shakes his head, "I only saw them together yesterday. But I didn't think anything of it. And then I saw them together today."

It's quiet for a few moments. And you begin to bask in what happened once more. Which makes another wave of sadness wash over you in one big wave.

Another tear rolls down your cheek, "What do I do?"

"What do you mean?" Jackson asks and, you look up at him.

"I work with him, I-I live with him." You stutter, looking up at Meredith.

"We can't do much about the working thing." Meredith shrugs, but looks at Jackson for a moment, "We can help you move out though."

She looks back at you, and you smile gratefully up at her, "Thanks, Mer."

She leans over, setting her coffee cup down on the table. Then she grabs her phone and scrolls through it, "We're gonna dance it out."

"Oh my god." You giggle slightly, wiping your tears, "We don't have to."

"You do," She says, turning on some song you've never heard of before. After that, she pushes herself up and offers you her hand, "Don't worry, Jackson will join us."

"Sure, thanks for asking," Jackson murmurs, getting up and starting to dance slightly.

You take Meredith's hand, and she pulls you up, "It would be much better with Tequila. But, for now, this will do."

You three slowly start to dance to the rhythm of the song. And as you continue on, you feel grateful that you have them as friends.

Although Jackson looks like he wants to stop, he's trying for you. Not to mention Meredith, who's completely gone all the way.

Who cares about Alex? You have these two anyway.
