Warnings; none
Word Count; 780 words
——-Looking down at all of the paperwork the nurse just handed you, you look at the nurse for a moment, "Are you kidding me?"
"Am I laughing?" the nurse retorts.
Looking through the papers, you start to see different names on the papers, not just yours anymore. Some are from Derek, Webber, and Bailey. So, why the hell do you have to do all of it?
And on top of that, it all has to be done by the end of the day, apparently. Which means that the three surgeries that you have to do, will have to be handed off to someone else. Maybe even Addison if she's willing to take them.
But first things first.
"Not all of these are mine," you protest, looking at the disinterested nurse.
When she does say anything, you lean over the counter and snap in front of her face, "Hey, are you listening to me?"
"I'm choosing not to," she says, which makes you scowl at her.
"Then I'm choosing not to do any of this, then," you threaten, dropping the stack of vanilla folders back onto the counter, "Until you lose the bitchy attitude, they're all yours,"
She opens her mouth to say something, but you grab your tablet and then start off to one of the patients that have been asking for you, for a little while now. You would've been there sooner if it wasn't for this waste of a time detour.
The nurses aren't very fond of you sometimes. Yes, the fact on how you aren't nice most of the time—they share that same courtesy—could help that fact. But there's always the point that you hang around the most disliked surgeons.
Addison Montgomery, Mark Sloan, and Derek Shepherd. Disliked because of the drama that they're all causing in the poor hospital. Derek wanted to get away, Addison wanted him back, and Mark is chasing after a woman he can never have.
You made friends with Addison within her first week of being here. She took a liking to you mainly because of how nice you are to everyone. Even to her—even after you learned what she did. You'd known Derek longer than you'd known her, but Addison was really in a low place, and you saw that.
Not that cheaters should have sympathy, but there's always a reason why someone cheats on someone else. And they were fighting, and she wanted revenge. You don't agree with that part of it at all, but it isn't your problem.
Your problem is trying to get the nurses off your back and surviving most days inside of the hospital. It's a lot more chaotic than the last one you came from, and sometimes you wish you'd stayed there instead.
When you get to the patient's room, you're met with an empty room. Thankfully, the nurse you're about to speak to this time likes you. For once, a change you'll gladly accept.
"Hey, Rose," you say, going up to her desk, she looks up from the computer for a moment, her eyebrows raised.
"Yeah?"
"Where's my patient?" You ask, head jerking the direction of his room.
"He's in for surgery," she says, frowning, "No one told you?"
"No, because the lady downstairs tried to give me paperwork to do," you tap the counter, with your index finger, "Do you know who took him?"
"Doctor Bailey—" She says, but she's cut off.
"(Y/n)," someone calls, you turn to see Addison coming in your direction.
Her face was somewhat happy until she sees your expression. Which was probably one of distress. Since it seems that the world is starting to go against you now.
"What's wrong?"
"Paperwork, up to here," You hold up your hand slightly above the desk, "Wish I could say I was kidding, Bailey took my goddamn patient and I have three surgeries,"
"Deep breaths, (Y/n)," She says, placing her hand on your back as she leads you to the elevator, "Let's take a break then, okay?"
"I can't—" you say, but she gives you a look.
"How do you have that much work, anyway? Thought you did it all at the end of the day," she says.
"I do, but she gave me everyone else's work too, which is why I'm so confused,"
She thinks for a moment, before asking, "Was it the older lady?"
"Yup,"
"Don't worry about her, she's been trying to do that to everyone. Glad you didn't fall for it," She laughs, and then the elevator doors open.
"Thanks, Addison," you say after a couple of seconds of being inside of the elevator.
"No problem needed the coffee anyway," She grins.
