——-Just looking at the hospital alone is making you jittery, nervous. Your fingers wrap around your wrist, squeezing it to relieve some of the anxiousness that you're feeling.
A couple of people pass you now and then. However, you don't find yourself moving towards the building, honestly, you'd just stay out here the entire time if that was an option. But you know that you have to go inside, Dr. Avery is waiting for you. And your mom isn't going to stand here forever.
They both know you can't handle the hospital. You've never been able to stand it, even after trying to 'get over it' like you were told to. What's even worse, is that you then truly thought you'd get over it when you got older.
Because by society's standards, that's just what happens. You have a fear when you're younger, but when you're old enough to comprehend that it's 'all in your mind' you're supposed to get over it. As if you have control over it like it's a switch in your mind.
It's quite the contrary, obviously, because here you are, standing in front of the hospital, staring at it as if you'll get swallowed alive, therefore never making it out again.
Or, you could end up going in there and dying. Even for a small check-up, you never know, they could find some sort of disease and you could end up having to go to surgery that moment and —
Involuntarily, you take a step backward. Those thoughts are right in a way, you never do know what could happen...
"We're late," your mother places her hand on your shoulder, which makes you look over, to see that she's looking down at her watch, "By at least ten minutes now, (Y/n)."
Looking at the hospital again, you take a deep breath, and you're about to take a step forward, but the thoughts come back again and you shake your head quickly.
"I can't— can we just... can we— another time? Like— like next month or something?" You ask quietly, your hand squeezing your wrist tighter now.
"We did that once already," she reminds you, then she wraps an arm around your shoulder, "Doctor Avery needs to see you today,"
She pulls you forward and you resist at first, but when she begins to tug, you decide to let up. Not really wanting her to strain to push you inside, but still not giving into the entire idea fully.
Once you got past the hospital doors, she didn't worry about pushing you anymore, instead, she went right up to the desk to talk to the receptionist, who gave you directions to the room he was in at the moment.
So, in the elevator, you two went, along with a couple of nurses on the way up. When you reached the floor, your mom was the first that left the elevator, and the thought of pressing the button to go back down was too tempting.
Pushing it back, you follow her out and trail behind loosely. You can hear the chattering of the people around you, nurses on the phone talking about patients and, the steady beeping of the heart monitors from the rooms you pass by.
Your mother stops outside the door, looking at you, "Are you ready?"
Scoffing, you look down, and try to hide the fact that your hands are shaking, "You know the answer to that, let's just get this over with."
