Frank was unaware that Gerard knew how to invent good pick-up lines but damn. He got him there. In a way, Frank had just been called adorable by Gerard. But Gerard didn't even seem like he realized what he said. In fact, he was giving Frank a questionable look as if he were wanting Frank to respond. But what the fuck was he supposed to say!? You don't just tell someone outright that they're adorable and expect them to be normal about it!

Gerard crossed his legs over one another and continued to give Frank that look. "So?" "So what?" Frank accidentally snapped. Gerard somehow didn't even flinch at the tone and by the way his eyes crinkled in the corners, Frank could tell he was smiling. "So, do you think my father is a liar?" Frank didn't answer since he knew Gerard would come back with some sort of wisdom that would outwit his.

"I think," Gee said as he stood to his feet. "That my father couldn't see the good in the world." Giving a small gesture with his hands that Frank couldn't understand, Gerard went on. "But not in a bad way. He just saw too much of the bad to insert the good. He looked upon the downside instead of the upside. He saw a flower, he saw a mutation. He saw a child, he thought of death. What my father couldn't see was what my mother could see. And that's why I think they fell in love. Frankie, do you believe in love?"

'I want you to take your mask off so I can kiss you.' But Frank couldn't really say that outloud so he replied with a "Yeah. Sure." "You sound uncertain." "I kind've am. Isn't it, I don't know, too much postapocalyptic for love?" "I like big words." Gerard said, ignoring Frank completely.

"But the problem is, I've never been in a postapocalyptic world, so how would I know what one is? Right now, children born in this time wouldn't think of it so, right? They'd just believe that this is normal and that life is normal. For instance: You and I both have never seen the sun, never ate ice cream. But does that mean we missed out?"

"Um yes, it kinda does." "Wrong, Iero!" And fuck. Gerard pronounced his last name correct yet wrong at the same time and all Frank wanted to do was kiss him for it. "Because we can't miss out if we haven't had it before. We can't lose a battle we haven't even fought. So we've never lived in a postapocalyptic world if we've never known what one was. Does this make sense or am I rambling too much?"

"Oh. No. You're fine. I actually like hearing you talk." "Good because I like talking. Now where was I? Yes! I've always wanted to try ice cream!" That wasn't necessarily the topic but like Frank had said earlier, he liked hearing Gerard talk. "Or cotton candy or gum. But do you know what the problem is, Frankie?" "We don't have the resources?" "No! Wait-that too-but that isn't the answer I'm looking for! Our problem is that no one knows how to make it anymore!"

Gerard seemed to be getting excited, bouncing on the heels of his feet while shouting his words and making gestures with his hands to prove a point. "Everyone who knew how-died. Dead. Gone. Outta here. But what if we found a book on how to make it? What if someone wrote a recipe on how to make fresh homemade ice cream!?"

"Is this a theological question I would be unable to answer?" Ignoring him like what Gerard always seemed to do when he didn't get the answer he wanted, he went on with whatever he was saying. "Then I would make ice cream every day."

Frank stared up at Gerard questionably. "That's it?" "What's it?" "Well, you've been coming up with all of these cool points and stuff so I figured you'd tell me the meaning of life through ice cream facts."

"No. I'm just pointing out what I'd do if I learned how to make ice cream. Sorry if you expected more of me Iero, but five years wasn't enough for me to come up with the meaning of life."

Frank reached for a cigarette, only to grab air. Hoping Gerard didn't see his mistake, he began to run his thumb on the guitar pick he wore around his neck.
