As I sat at my desk reviewing some old files, my secretary entered my office. "Good morning sir. The team is ready and waiting in the conference room for the meeting." She announced.
"I'll be there shortly." I said looking up from the files I was reviewing. And she nodded.
"Alright, sir. I'll take my leave now." After she departed, I made my way to the conference room, where my team was assembled. We were discussing the performance of my hotel in Ghana, and I was pleased to know that it was doing exceptionally well.
Mr. Matthew, one of my team members, shared his thoughts on the matter. I listened intently and then responded, "I think your opinion on this matter is spot on, Mr. Matthew. The hotel in Ghana is indeed generating a significant income, and having an assistant manager on board could be a brilliant move. It would undoubtedly bring additional benefits to the hotel."
After hours of brainstorming and discussion, we finally reached a successful conclusion on how to further expand my hotel. I was impressed with the innovative ideas presented by my staff members, and I assured them that I would consider each and every one of them.
As we were about to wrap up the meeting, I asked, "Anybody have something to add?" The director raised his hand, and I nodded for him to speak.
"Lets hear it," I said.
"Sir, on behalf of all the staff members, we would like to request permission to host a get-together party this coming weekend," he said politely. "We would be honored if you could grant us your approval."
I pinched the bridge of my nose, weighing the request. But as I looked around the room at my dedicated and hardworking staff, I couldn't help but feel a sense of appreciation and gratitude. They deserved a celebration, and it had been a while since I'd hosted a party.
"Why not?" I said with a smile. "You've all worked incredibly hard, and you deserve a chance to unwind and have some fun. Let's make it happen!"
The director's face lit up with gratitude as he thanked me profusely. I nodded, smoothing out my navy blue Armani suit. My secretary closed my laptop and picked it up, ready to follow me out of the conference room.
"Have a nice day," I said to my team before walking out, my secretary trailing closely behind me.
As we entered my office, I was surprised to see Veronica already seated, waiting for my arrival. Her presence didn't exactly fill me with joy.
"You didn't tell me you were coming," I said, pocketing my hands and trying to keep my tone neutral.
My secretary greeted Veronica with a polite "Hello, Miss Veronica." Veronica stood up, a hint of a smile on her face, but I wasn't buying it.
She returned my secretary's greeting with a simple "Hello." And we watched in silence as my secretary arranged my files and laptop on my desk before discreetly exiting the room.
As soon as we were alone, I reiterated my question, "You didn't tell me you were coming." My tone was neutral, but I couldn't hide the underlying irritation.
She sauntered up to me, her eyes locked on mine, and planted a gentle kiss on my lips. "I don't need permission to visit my man, do I?" she said, her voice laced with a hint of playfulness. "Especially today, since it's our insemination day." She trailed her index finger along my jawline, but I clenched my teeth, my annoyance growing.
I broke eye contact with her, my gaze drifting away from hers. "I'll tell Gabby to get the car ready," I said curtly, my tone betraying my irritation.
"Okay," she said, taking a step back. I walked around my desk, reaching for my phone, my mind already focused on the task at hand.
I quickly dialed Gabby's number, and as soon as he answered, I instructed, "Gabby, get the car ready."
"Okay, Sultan." He immediately responded and I raked my fingers through my hair, feeling a hint of frustration, before turning back to Veronica.
Gabby was more than just my personal bodyguard - he was a childhood friend. We had grown up together, attending the same primary and high school, and even the same university. As kids, Gabby had always dreamed of becoming a bodyguard, and after university, he enrolled in a specialized training institute. Upon graduating, he had approached me with a proposal to become my personal bodyguard. And I agreed, he had been by my side ever since.

As we arrived at the hospital, Gabby helped Veronica out of the car, and we made our way into the reception. But what caught my attention was Veronica's warm greeting with one of the nurses, Bella. They exchanged bright smiles, and Veronica's enthusiasm was palpable."Do you know her?" I asked Veronica, curiosity getting the better of me.
"Yeah, she's a friend," Veronica replied, rubbing Bella's hand affectionately. However, Bella's body language told a different story. She seemed uneasy, even uncomfortable, around Veronica. Her smile was forced, and her eyes darted around the room.
"Bella, ain't you happy to see me?" Veronica asked, noticing her friend's unease.
"Oh, uh, I uh, I'm happy, Veronica, don't be silly." Bella's response was awkward, her words stumbling out in a nervous rush
She forced a smile and walked around her desk to hug Veronica, but the gesture felt strained.
Veronica smiled, seeming to relax a bit, as Bella pulled back from their hug. "Uh, the doctor is in his office," Bella said, composing herself. "I'll lead you guys to him."
We followed Bella to the doctor's office, where Doctor Jones greeted us warmly and offered us seats. Bella stood by his side, holding a file, as the doctor began to review its contents.
Veronica leaned in close, her voice barely above a whisper. "I hope this works for us." I smiled reassuringly, trying to calm her nerves, but I couldn't shake off my own doubts.
The doctor looked up from the file, his eyes locking onto Veronica's. "Well, Miss Veronica, are you ready?" he asked.
Veronica's gaze flicked to mine, and I could sense her nervousness. "I'm a bit nervous," she admitted, "but it's for the best." I nodded, giving her hand a gentle squeeze. To be honest, I was nervous too. The thought of this procedure not working was daunting. I needed a child, and the prospect of failure was unsettling.
"Yes, doctor, I'm ready," Veronica said, turning to me. "Um, Sultan, I'd love for you to be with me through the process. I hope you don't mind, doctor?"
"Of course, he can."
"Thank you," Veronica said, smiling at the doctor.
"Alright, Bella, go get the sperm and everything ready for the procedure." Bella nodded and exited the room. Shortly after, Veronica was asked to change into a blue hospital gown, which she did with Bella's assistance. Bella then helped Veronica climb onto the hospital bed.
I sat at the far end of the room, my anxiety growing as I watched the preparations unfold. We had been trying to have a baby for a long time, and I desperately hoped this insemination process would be successful.
