"Max, I said don't come any closer," I warned him for the third time, trying to keep him at bay. The perfume he was wearing was overpowering, and my sensitive pregnancy nose couldn't handle it. But Max wouldn't listen, persistently trying to inch closer.
Between being pregnant and juggling school, I was already feeling drained, but I refused to let it get the better of me. "So, you're saying I'm not allowed to sit next to you in class anymore?" Max asked, a hint of offense in his voice.
"Get used to it Max. You know I want you to sit next to me, but this pregnancy is making me super sensitive." I said and he still looked adorable, despite his frown. "Come on, Max, you remember how Dante used to get upset when I asked him to keep his distance? But thankfully, he's learned to understand the situation now." I said softly, trying to reassure him.
"You've really gotten attached to this Dante guy, haven't you?" His curiosity piqued. "I'd like to meet him."
I smiled, nodding in agreement. "Yeah, you should. He's a great guy." I said and he finally sat down, but not before moving five desks away from me. He still wore a small frown, and I knew it wouldn't be easy for him to adjust to the new distance between us.
Some of my classmates had found out about my pregnancy, and while they whispered negative comments behind my back, I didn't let it faze me. I was focused on graduating in three weeks, and nothing was going to bring me down. My mom and I had gone for another pregnancy test, and the result was still positive. Even Dr. Jones was shocked, and he'd conducted extensive research to try and understand the mystery behind my pregnancy. But despite his efforts, he couldn't find any concrete answers.
I had attempted to abort the baby twice, but both times, I was unsuccessful. Initially, I had wanted to get rid of the pregnancy so desperately, but as time passed, my feelings changed. Now, I wanted this baby more than anything in the world. I had come to realize that this child was a gift from God, and I had grown to love it with all my heart.

It was my graduation day, and I was beyond excited. Not only was I celebrating this milestone, but I was also two months pregnant. Thankfully, my stomach was still flat, and I was grateful for that, even though I was thrilled about the pregnancy.I stood in front of my full-length mirror, admiring myself, when my mom yelled out my name. "Lani!"
"I'm coming, Mom!" I replied, knowing it was time to leave for the ceremony. I felt an overwhelming sense of pride and accomplishment as I prepared to receive my diploma.
Two weeks after graduation, I found myself spending most of my time indoors. I rarely ventured out, and to be honest, I was comfortable with that. Life had been overwhelming lately. Bella would occasionally visit, but her club kept her busy. Max, on the other hand, visited every day after work. He had started his internship immediately after graduating and was pursuing his dream of becoming a lawyer. As for me, I had put my own dreams on hold, waiting for the baby to arrive before continuing my journey to become a lawyer.
I was lounging on my couch in the living room when the doorbell rang. I got up to answer it, and to my surprise, it was Bella. But before I could even open the door, she let herself in. "Hey, what's up?" I greeted, laughing.
"Where's Jade?" she asked, referring to my mom, as she plopped down on the couch.
"She's at her shop, as usual," I replied, sitting down beside her.
"Cool, I'm starving," Bella said, rubbing her tummy. "Do you have any food in the kitchen?" I shook my head.
"Not really, and I'm hungry too. Let's go make something to eat." I said and we both headed off to the kitchen.
