Liam's cries ceased instantly as Milani cradled him in her arms. I was stunned by his sudden calmness, mesmerized by the tranquility that washed over him as he nestled into her warmth. "Hey handsome," Milani said in a loving voice, and Liam gave her a heartwarming smile. I was taken aback by the smile, as Liam didn't often smile. "Aww, you must be hungry," Milani said, gently exposing her swollen breast and I felt a sudden jolt, my body freezing as I watched Liam latch onto her nipple, sucking eagerly. The sound of his suckling filled the air, and I was captivated by the speed and intensity of it.
Milani gently rocked him and spoke softly to him, and he seemed to be enjoying the attention. The way they bonded so quickly was truly amazing. I couldn't help but feel a deep sense of wonder at the love and connection between them."Easy my love," she cooed, gently stroking his cheek. It was a tender moment, and I couldn't help but be captivated by the sight. Milani's post-baby glow suited her well, and she looked radiant.
"Um, where's Dream?" I asked, breaking the silence and She looked up at me, her eyes sparkling.
"She's with my mom."
"Alright," I replied, my mind momentarily drifting to Liam.
"Yeah, you were saying something earlier," she prompted, "you said you needed me to help you with something." I hesitated, scratching the back of my head.
"Yeah, uh, you're actually doing that right now," I said with a hint of a smile, and she chuckled softly.
Her eyes locked onto mine, and she asked, "What took you so long to bring him?" Her question caught me off guard, and I found myself unsure of how to respond. Before I could gather my thoughts, she pressed on, "I asked you a question."
"Um, what can I say... uh, you know how everything-" I trailed off, struggling to find the right words.
She looked at me with understanding eyes and said, "It's okay, I get it now. But you didn't have to take so long to bring him to me because of whatever issue we're having. He's a child, and he shouldn't be punished for the mistakes of his parents." Her words cut deep, and I found myself avoiding her gaze. She was right; I had been unfair to Liam, and by extension, to her. Her kindness and compassion only made me feel more ashamed of my behavior. I knew I didn't deserve her understanding, and her words only highlighted my own mistakes.
