I beamed with excitement as I packed my bag, my mind racing with thoughts of the upcoming trip to Ghana. It was a dream come true for me, and I couldn't wait to experience the vibrant culture and rich history of the country again.

As I zipped up my bag, mom walked into my room, with a piece of paper in her hand. "Are you ready?" she asked, with a smile on her face. And I nodded enthusiastically, setting my bag down on the floor.

"Yeah," I replied, trying to contain my excitement. I was ready to embark on this adventure, but a part of me was also hesitant to face the reality of my family situation in Ghana. My dad's side of the family was still a sore spot for me, and I had made a conscious decision to distance myself from them. But for now, I pushed those thoughts aside and focused on the excitement of the trip.

Mom handed me the piece of paper, and I took it, feeling a mix of emotions as I saw the address scribbled on it. It was my grandma's address, my dad's mother. I exhaled slowly, trying to process my feelings. "Just in case you change your mind to see your father's family..." Mom's words hung in the air.

I shook my head, feeling a sense of determination. It was never going to happen. I had made up my mind to distance myself from my dad's family, and I wasn't going to change it now.

"I have to leave now," I said, reaching for my jacket on the bed. Mom's eyes narrowed, as concern etched on her face.

"Lani, are you sure you want to go on the tour? Honey, you're not well," she said, touching my forehead to check my temperature and I rolled my eyes, feeling a bit frustrated.

"I'm not burning, right? That means I'm fine, and I'm going," I emphasized, trying to reassure her. But mom was not convinced.

"You look ill to me Lani," she said, her voice laced with worry. I sighed, feeling a bit annoyed. Sometimes, I wished she wouldn't be so overprotective.

I dragged my bag out of my room, trying to make a quick escape before she could persuade me to stay back. "Mom I'm fine, okay? We need to leave now, my friends are probably waiting for me," I said, trying to sound as convincing as possible. But she was not one to give up easily.

"Lani," she called out, her voice echoing through the hallway. But I ignored her, focusing on pulling my bag towards the front door.

"Mom, go get your car ready, we need to be at the airport before 10," I said, trying to distract her from her concerns about my health. I was determined to make this trip, and nothing was going to stop me. I quickened my pace, eager to get out of the house and start my adventure.

As we pulled up to the airport, I could see that half of my colleagues were already there, including Max and Prince, who were engrossed in their phones while chatting with some friends. Our Chancellor and some officials were also present, waiting for the rest of us to arrive before we departed for Africa.

I grabbed my bag from the car boot and turned to mom, who was looking at me with a mix of sadness and concern. "Take care honey," she said, and we shared a warm hug. I knew she was going to miss me, so I decided to flatter her a bit.

"I will, world's prettiest mom," I said with a smile, and she chuckled, knowing that I was just trying to make her feel better. But the truth was, I meant it - my mom was beautiful, both inside and out.

She smiled and gently pinched my cheek, and I could see the hint of a tear in her eye. "Text me when you get there," she reminded me, and I nodded, giving her a small wave before joining my friends.

As we waited for the remaining students to arrive, we decided to play a game of truth or dare to pass the time. The game was already in full swing, and it was Mike's turn now. "Your turn now, Mike," one of our friends said, grinning mischievously.

"I'm ready," he responded, a confident smile spreading across his face. "Truth or dare?" he was asked, and without hesitation, he chose "dare".

The room fell silent for a moment as our friend thought of a suitable dare. Then, with a sly grin, he said, "I dare you to twerk forty times." The room erupted in laughter, and I couldn't wait to see Mike's reaction.

Mike was a bit self-conscious, but he was also a good sport. He stood up, a sheepish grin on his face, and started to twerk. His skinny butt wiggling back and forth was the most hilarious thing I had ever seen. I laughed so hard that tears streamed down my face.

"Come on, shake what your mama gave you!" I yelled, egging him on. The rest of our friends were in stitches, and Mike's twerking became the main attraction. He literally cracked us all up, and it was a moment that I would never forget.

The teasing continued, with Max and Prince jokingly questioning Mike's sexuality after his impressive twerking skills. I was laughing so hard that my stomach hurt, and I was about to join in on the teasing when I saw Lisa, the rich brat, approaching with her friends.

My demeanor immediately changed, and I felt a sense of annoyance wash over me. I drew closer to Max, resting my head on his shoulder, and whispered to him, "Lisa and her friends are approaching."

Max's expression changed, and he whispered back, "I thought they weren't coming. What are they doing here?" I shrugged, my head still resting on his shoulder, as I stared at Lisa and her friends with a mixture of disdain and annoyance.

I hated having them around, as they always caused drama and tantrums. The thought of spending the next few days with them in Africa was unbearable. I sighed inwardly, bracing myself for the inevitable chaos that would ensue with Lisa and her friends around.
