"Mom please hurry!" I said as I set the dining table. We were all excited because Max was back from Germany after months of being away, so we decided to throw a little welcome party for his return.  I was just over the moon and I couldn't wait to see him.

"Ok I'm almost done, what about you? Is the table set." Mom asked.

"Yeah I just finished." I said looking at the table, pleased with how it came out beautiful.

"Good what about you Bella?" Mom asked Bella.

"Done with the chicken." She said bringing it to the table.

"Good job." I said and slightly pinched her cheek and she giggled. Even though Max and Bella met couple of times before he left for Germany, within that short period of time, they became best of friends.

"Guys it's almost 7:20pm and Max should be here at anytime-" I was cut off by the doorbell and I freaked out. "He is here! He is here!" I squealed all the way to the door and swung it opened and there stood my best friend.

"Oh my God Lani look at you!" He said staring at my baby bump with wide eyes and I jumped into his arms.

"I missed you!" I pulled back dying with so much joy to see him again in a long time.

"Hey." He said rubbing my stomach then the baby kicked freaking him out.

"She is excited to have you back." I said smiling.

"That was a cute kick, I missed you too." He said in a loving then she kicked again.

"Oh my God." I said and we all laughed.

"Welcome back my boy." Mom said before hugging him.

"I miss you all so much." He said as soon as he pulled back.

"Look at you looking all handsome." Bella complimented and he winked at her.

"Thanks Bel, you looking great yourself." He said.

In less than forty minutes, we were done eating as Max talked about his internship and the new friends he got in Germany. Mom and Bella were so interested in the conversation whiles me on the other hand wasn't really into the conversation, because I didn't hear from Sultan the whole day and it was worrisome. It was unlike him, he literally called me every morning before work, and when he closed from work, we talked on phone almost the entire night. It has been like that for a week now, So I had every reason to be worried.

I excused myself and walked straight into the washroom then dialed his number and he answered on the third ring. "Hey um..I'm sorry I didn't call you today, I had a lot of meetings." He apologized right away and I let out a sigh of relief.

"It's fine uh.. would you be coming over tonight?" I asked since he told me he would be spending the night at my house on that day.

"Of course, sure." He confirmed.

"Uh.. Sultan I don't think it would be a great idea." I said.

"Why?"

"My mom is here."

"Alright I understand, I hope you're okay?" I asked and I nodded as if he could see me.

"Yeah I'm fine."

"Great, talk to you later then."

"Alright." I said and hanged up before going back to join the family.

"Where's Max." I asked when he was nowhere to be seen when I got back.

"Answering a phone call at the back." Bella said and I nodded.

"Hey guys I'm sorry but I have to leave now, I need to check on something on my laptop real quick." Max said coming from the back.

"It's okay that's fine." I said.

"I think I should be heading home as well." Bella said and I shrugged.

"Cool." I said.

"Me too." Mom said grabbing her purse and I froze as I looked at her.

"I thought you said you sleeping over mom?" I asked feeling disappointed.

"I'm sorry I just remembered I have to escort a friend to a wedding early morning." He said and I literally want to die, I couldn't believe I sacrificed my night with Sultan for her and she was leaving.

"See you tomorrow Lani." Bella said and I watched them walk out the door in disbelief and in disappointment.
