CHAPTER 17

When I was leaving for Ghana, I asked Gabby to do a little investigation on Veronica for me. Because I suddenly felt the need to since she was hard to see through and was so smart. The fact that she wanted to have my child so badly, in spite of her career, was another reason for me to doubt her sincerity. Something was not right about her but I just couldn't point a finger on it, I was yet to find out from Gabby.

I sat impatiently in my office waiting on Gabby to walk in and tell me the bad news he told me he had about her. I couldn't think straight nor get to work as I wondered what the bad news could be. When I saw Gabby walk through the door, I immediately sat up, eager to hear what he had for me. Though I was a bit nervous, I wanted to hear all of it.

"Real bad new." He said taking his seat and my heart sank into my stomach.

"Tell me." I said and clenched my teeth, waiting to hear him speak.

"Veronica is engaged to a mafia called Enrique and they would be getting married soon." He spilled the beans and my jaw dropped as the shock left me speechless. "Veronica is in your life because of your wealth and nothing else, she need millions of dollars to clear her fiancée's debts."

"What?" I said almost in a whisper after long being silent. I couldn't believe I almost fell into her trap.

"Our doubts about her was true, she is nothing but a gold digger."

"This is ridiculous, how could she be this cunning?" I said grimacing, totally shock to the core at the length she wanted to go just to clear her fiancée's debt.

"She is one crazy woman." Gabby said and I scoffed as I couldn't believe she was that dumb to think it would be easy for her to claim some of my possessions by just having my child.

"I'm really out of words right now, I cannot believe this, Veronica engaged? And wants my money?"

"Exactly." Gabby said and I snorted, raking my fingers through my hair. No amount of words could explain how I felt at that moment.

"So what's next? Now that you know her true intentions, what are you going to do?"

"Keep fucking her whiles she gets nothing." I said and he laughed. "Yeah Veronica needs to be punished, and I swear to God she would not get a dime from me." I emphasized.

"I love your fucking punishment Sultan, she deserves it and more."

"Absolutely." I said still couldn't believe Veronica had evil plans for me all along.

"So what about that girl?" Gabby asked and I looked at him.

"What girl?"

"Milani, the girl you've been secretly watching from afar." He said and I rubbed my face out of confusion as the night I met her at the poolside came flooding my mind. For about a week now, I've been secretly watching her from a distance. Literally been monitoring her every move and I had no reason for doing that, I just wanted to see her pretty face. Aside that I really admired her for keeping her dignity intact.

"Gabby honestly I don't even know why I spy on her, but the truth is I feel great whenever I do that, she is pretty and innocent. Thinking about her freaks me out but I just can't stop." I raked my fingers through my hair, feeling frustrated as to why I couldn't get her out of my mind.

"This is actually your first time speaking genuinely about a girl, is it because she is a virgin?"

"I don't know." I shrugged.

"Honestly you shouldn't have left her the way you did, it was totally wrong. You lured her into having sex with you and left the following morning without saying a word to her. Do you know the kind of questions you left her to be asking herself when she woke up and found you were gone?"

"No no I did not have sex with her." I corrected him.

"Still doesn't change the fact that you left without informing her. Why did you do that?"

"Maybe I like her."
