"Wow, Bella, everything is perfect in here!" I exclaimed, beaming with pride as we both admired my new apartment. After hours of setting it up, it had turned out simple yet beautiful, just as we had envisioned.
We had spent the day at the mall, picking out all the essentials to make the place feel like home. I was completely smitten with my new space, even though I knew I'd miss Mom. "Pretty!" Bella replied, her eyes shining with excitement. We were both clearly in love with the place.
"What's the time, Bella?" I asked, and she checked her watch. Instantly her eyes widened in surprise.
"Oh no, it's 6:45 pm! I have to go now," she said, already heading for the door. "I'll be back tomorrow to check on you, okay?" I nodded, trying to hide my disappointment. I knew Bella had a lot on her plate, but I was going to miss her. "Don't miss me too much," she said with a grin, grabbing her purse from the couch. "Bye!" she called out, rushing out the door.
I let out a deep sigh as soon as Bella walked out the door, and I couldn't help but continue admiring my new home. "Nice," I murmured to myself, still in awe of my new space.
Three hours flew by, and I was still basking in the joy of my new independence. It had always been my dream to move out of Mom's house, and now that I had finally taken the plunge, it felt amazing.
Just as I was getting comfortable, my doorbell rang, shattering the peaceful atmosphere. I wondered who it could be, but my mind immediately went to Mom. I smiled, thinking it was probably her coming to check on me. I rushed to the door, excitement building up inside me, but as I swung it open, my smile faltered. It wasn't Mom standing on my doorstep. Instead, I was face to face with Sultan King West.I felt a surge of surprise and anger, my mind racing with questions. "What?" I muttered, trying to process the unexpected visitor. "What are you doing here?" I asked, attempting to keep my tone calm, but my heart was racing with annoyance. This was my first night in my new home, and the last person I wanted to see was Sultan.
"Leave," I said coldly, my voice firm and resolute. Sultan's eyes pleaded with me, but I stood my ground.
"Stop being stubborn and let me in," he desperately whispered and I felt a surge of anger and frustration.
"I'm not letting you in, you hear me? Leave me alone!" I emphasized, my voice rising in fury.
"Lani, I know you're mad at me, but right now, just give me a moment to talk to you, please," his persistence only fueled my anger. I was seething with rage, and my emotions were getting the better of me. I licked my bottom lip and raked my fingers through my curly hair, trying to compose myself. But my anger was escalating, and I didn't know how to rein it in.
"Glad you could tell I'm furious, so why do you still want to talk? The best thing you could do for me right now is to leave and never come back," I spat, my words venomous. He then opened his mouth to speak, but I cut him off again. "The last time I checked, you never had anything to do with the girls you had a night with, so why are you here?" I demanded, my fury boiling over. He looked taken aback, unsure of how to respond. So I took advantage of his silence to deliver a parting blow. "Let me give you some advice, it's late, and your baby mama needs you right now. So, just leave me and my unborn baby the hell alone!" I exclaimed, my anger getting the better of me. But as soon as the words left my lips, I clapped my hand over my mouth, horrified. I couldn't believe I had just revealed my pregnancy to Sultan.
"You're pregnant?" His eyes widened in surprise. I was caught off guard, and my mind went blank. I didn't know how to respond, and I felt like I'd been busted. Sultan asked again, his voice more insistent. "Answer me, Lani, are you pregnant?" I smacked my forehead in regret, feeling like I'd made a huge mistake. I walked back into the room, with Sultan following close behind. I was furious with myself for not being able to control my tongue.
