CHAPTER 52

I've never felt so restless in life, I stood outside with mom, Bella and Gabby as a nurse assists Milani change her attire into the blue hospital gown.

"Miss Bella Milani is asking for you." The nurse came out of the delivery room and said to Before before heading to Dr Jones office.

"Wanna come?" Bella asked me and I looked at her like crazy.

"To the delivery room?" I wanted to be sure if she actually wanted me in the delivery room.

"Obviously." She said and I scoffed not believing her. Even though I would love to be in there, I was pretty sure Milani wouldn't like to have me there.

"Are you serious right?" I asked staring at her.

"You need to be in there with me, come on." She insisted.

"No Bella you should probably go with mom." I suggested. She was just out of her mind for asking me to come with her.

"Sarah will come later, come with me first."

"Oh Bella please don't do this." I begged her rubbing my face.

"Come on, you don't wanna miss this." She said and dragged me by my arm into the delivery room.

Milani instantly shot me an evil glare with her puffy eyes, and I swallowed hard not knowing what to say or do. I had wanted to walk out but my legs felt weak, as I stood there staring back at her.

"Lani.." Bella called in and walked to her side.

"Bella it hurts.. it hurts so bad." She said every word crying and I wish I could do something to end her pain.

"You got this, don't worry it will end soon, Jade should be here any moment." She nodded as tears rolled down her cheeks, then Jade rushed right in.

"Mom!" Milani called crying bitterly and as well as happy her mom was here to support her when she needed her the most.

"Oh sweetheart, it's okay it will end soon, it's okay my love." Jade said every word stroking Milani's wet her, as she continued to cry. It broke my heart to see her in so much pain and I couldn't do anything to help her, I stood there watching fear not knowing what to do.

Twenty minutes gone by and the doctor hasn't attended to her, I was beginning to worry and angry at the same time. She was hurting and I wanted her to be relieved, at this point I was running out of patience.

"Where the hell is the doctor?" I angrily asked the nurses as soon as they walked into the delivery room.

"I'm sorry Dr Jones will be here shortly." One of the nurses said before proceeding to check on Milani, shortly after Dr Jones walked in.

"Where have you been doctor? She's in pain and needs to be relieved now." I said to him.

"Pardon Sultan, I had to check on Veronica before coming." He said and I rubbed my face, trying to calm myself down.

"How is she and the baby doing?" I asked.

"I'm sorry there's no improvement." He said and I nodded in disappointment.

"Please attend to Milani." 

"Yes sure." He said before walking to Milani. "How are you doing?" The doctor asked and Milani sniffs but she actually stopped crying.

"The contractions are really strong, I feel like pushing." She said and Dr Jones took a seat in front of her then grabbed her legs and parted them, the room literally became silent as he examined her.

"Alright.." He murmured then looked up at Milani. "I can see the baby's head, It's time to push." Milani nodded desperately.

"Bella give me your hand." Milani asked and just as Bella was about to, Dr Jones stopped her.

"Sultan should instead." He said to Bella.

"Why?" Bella curiously asked.

"Milani's grip is going to hurt you. But a man can at least endure the pain for a while, so I will advise he holds your hand Milani." He suggested.

"Give me your hand!" Milani screamed at me and I rushed to her side and took her shaky hand into mine. I watched as she winced in pain and then she began to scream, as Jade rubbed her thigh, encouraging her to push harder.

"Keep pushing you are doing great." The doctor said.

"Oh God!!" She screamed as she tried to catch her breath.

"You're almost there Lani." I whispered into her ear then she met my gaze and nodded.

"Uhhh!!!" She squeezed my hand so hard to the point that I lose the sense of touch for a moment.

"You're doing a good job." Bella encouraged. She kept pushing and seconds later, the baby finally come out. We all watched in awe as the doctor hold her in his hands and used a bulb syringe to clean the her mouth, before she began to cry.

"My baby." Milani proudly said staring at the beautiful creature she made.

"Congrats Milani!" Bella said and hugged her on the bed.

"Good job sweetheart." Jade said as she wipes the sweat on Milani's forehead.

"Would you like to cut the cord Sultan?" The doctor shockingly asked me and I didn't know what to say, because I wasn't expecting and moreover Milani wouldn't like me to.

"Dr Jones, I don't think it is a good idea." I said not wanting to ruin Milani's special moment by getting her angry.

"Come on, it would be awesome if you just cut, besides you gave a helping hand in the child's delivery. Come on."

"Uh if Milani wouldn't mind." I said staring at her but she didn't say anything as she stared back at me.

"Yes of course go ahead and cut it." Bella said and I walked to the doctor and cut the umbilical cord as the room was filled with the baby's cry.
