CHAPTER 6: It's Not Easy Being King

I step closer to her and have her backed up against the door and put my hands on both sides of her touching the door.

"Whatever I ask from you." I begin telling her while looking at her lips.

"B-but I'm not that kind of a girl." She says to me nervously.

Right as soon as she tells me that, I quickly shake thoughts out of my head. I didn't mean anything sexual. Not that I don't want to but first of all, I'm not someone that would force myself onto anyone, let alone the one that's supposedly my mate. I was thinking about us just spending time together and thought I'd help protect her from my brother and his friends by keeping her mostly around me. But she thinks of me that way. I can tell also while walking up to her just now that she was bracing herself for in case I was going to hit her. Am I really that much of a monster?

I then push myself off the door and take a few steps back and clear my throat before I continue.

"I wasn't going to force myself onto you if that's what you thought. Which of course you would. No, I was thinking more along the lines of you becoming my personal servant and working for ONLY me and no one else." I tell her.

She looks down at the floor and looks as though she's embarrassed.

"I'm sorry Alpha. I didn't mean to assume or misjudge you." She tells me.

"Whatever, it is what it is. You humans think the same way about our kind as we think of yours." I dryly reply as I turn and walk back towards behind my desk. "Now leave and I'll let you know if I need something." I excuse her with the flick of my wrist.

She opens the door and leaves. I didn't mean to sound real harsh and in a way I don't blame her for thinking the way she does about me. However, it's just more proof as to proving the point of humans and werewolves not being able to be mates with each other.

I seriously need to speak with the Moon Goddess. This needs to all be straightened out right away. Even if she was my mate, I don't need that kind of attention right now. There's too much happening and the last thing I need is for a distraction such as that to get in the way.

When I was finished I made my way out towards the backyard where I was meeting up with the Beta of my pack and my best friend, Jai. He's been more like a brother to me since we were kids and has lived with us since his parents died in a fire when he was six years old.

"Hey Jai." I greeted as I walked out but stopped as I saw him talking to Ruby?

"Hey man!" He smiles. "I'll see ya later." He tells her and she walks away.

I glare at Ruby as she walks back into the house and then walk up to him.

"You ready?" I asked trying to hide my irritation with him for talking to her.

"So that's your mate huh?" He smirks.

"I don't want to talk about it." I hold up my hand.

"Well, she's real hot and with the curves she has?" He says with a wink and I immediately place my hand around his throat.

"Don't you talk about her and her body, do you understand me?!" I ask.

"Fine." He chuckles.

I let him drop to the ground as he continues laughing.

"I'm just saying, if you don't do something about it and make her yours soon, you know what will happen." He reminds me.

"Let's just drop it and get going to the meeting." I tell him.

We start heading into the woods and start walking the several mile journey to where my pack meets up to discuss personal things we have going on in order to make sure we protect others from knowing about certain 'dangers' we'll say, that are lurking around.

When we get to the field and make our way into our secret place we built off to the side and began.

"Alright, what news do we have on the recent treaty we made with Havens?" I asked my Delta, Leon.

"We've been trying our best to find them but nobody seems to know where they're at. Everyone thinks...." he stops himself. "Everyone thinks that they've become victims of whoever has been doing the recent murders that are happening at the moment."

"Well find them. I just saw them a few weeks ago and they seemed fine. In the meantime, I need for you guys to be extra careful and on the lookout for these sick fuckers that have been doing the recent murder sprees and remember that no one should know about our plans until we know whose been behind all this." I remind them.

"Of course Alpha." Everyone says in unison before we move on to the next issue.

There are so many things going on right now that I haven't told anyone about. Things are becoming more and more dangerous everyday and I fear that I won't be able to stop these psychos before it's too late.

It's not easy being in charge of thousands and thousands.
