CHAPTER 24: Taking It All In

BOULDER

During my drive over to see the head elder, I started thinking that I overreacted. I don't even know why I even snapped. She's right. I do need for my brother to be punished and I can't believe I ever thought she would even suggest me killing my brother. I have no idea in how I got to that thought when I know that's not at all what she was saying.

After arriving at the hall and requesting to speak with the head Elder, I waited a while in his quarters before he came in and we spoke.

"Alpha Boulder." He greets me.

"Sir." I reply.

"Please. Take a seat." He says as we both sit across from each other.

"I have to ask of a favor from you. It's very important." I began.

"About what?" He asks.

"The binding my parents made with you involving my brother before they died, I need for you to break it. Destroy it."

"I can't do that. You know I can't." He says.

"But he has gotten out of control."

"I agree but, you know there's more to it then just ripping up and burning a contract." He starts to remind me.

"I understand but, I have a feeling something bad will happen." I try and plead with him.

"No. Besides, the only way, unfortunately, for me to destroy the contract is if there's enough concrete evidence to prove he needs to be locked away in confinement and we both know how hard that'll be considering he's royal and next in line to take your title if something were to happen to you or your Luna." He finishes explaining.

"I know but...." I began to try and explain but he stopped me.

"I'm sorry but that's all I can say about it. My hands are tied." He says and then stands up. "If you'll excuse me, I have another meeting I need to get to shortly."

"Fine." I reply while getting up and leaving.

I didn't understand in why he couldn't make this exception for me. I mean, on one hand I understand that there is more involved than tearing and burning it up, like he said, but still, I'm the Alpha King and I feel that before Lecter does anything else that I know would involve many deaths and anguish from destruction, I thought we could try to prevent it.

While on my way home, I hit the steering wheel a couple of times from being pissed off after that meeting and from also feeling bad for the way I snapped at Ruby. Which as soon as I get home I'm gonna make it up to her.

I then get mind-linked by Jai telling me that Lecter and his pack are at the house now. So I start to floor it and hurry home.

When I pulled into the driveway, I got out and ran inside and right away began throwing punches at a guy that tries coming after me first. Then I continue fighting while looking for Ruby.

Then I spot her and see Lecter is on top of her on the ground with his hands around her throat.

I go up behind him and quickly grab him and yank him off of her and we go at it for a while until everyone seemed to have had enough and him along with what's left of his men, all leave.

After I told Jai what the Elder told me, he reminded me what all was involved if we went after him and what would be at risked.
But I didn't care. He's my brother and we need to stop him.

I let everyone know we were gonna meet up tomorrow and figure out the plan of what to do but for now, we all needed to rest. So I took Ruby's hand and we headed upstairs to our bedroom.

"Listen, I'm so sorry. I never should have said what I did." She begins apologizing.

"Baby, it's not your fault. I was the one who reacted immature." I tell her while looking into her eyes as I hold her face.

She puts her arms around me as I wrap mine around her waist and we lean our beads forward against each other's for a moment, standing in the middle of the room and enjoying a moment as amazing as this one right now. Taking one another in.
