RUBY

Why did I think that he wouldn't be disgusted? I don't blame him for feeling the way he does after seeing my scars.

I tried not to think the worst and that he was disgusted after seeing them but he has been avoiding me it seems for the last couple of days.

Kathleen has been trying to explain that he's not upset with me but at his brother and has been trying to find him and his pack but they haven't been able to track them down yet.

I know and understand that he feels responsible, I saw it in his eyes after he saw the scars. Him and Lecter are not identical, sure they do have similarities as twins do but, I can see the difference. When I look at Boulder I don't see Lecter, I see someone better.

I still can't help but feel like him leaving was the result of being disgusted by the scars. People say that scars can be beautiful and remind you of what you've been through and how you survived. In this case, I wish I hadn't survived.

I was sitting in my room looking out the window thinking about what my life was like when I was little and both my parents were alive.

I had a good childhood and both my parents were servants for a certain family of Werewolves. They were treated well by the ones they worked for, which was rare but, they would talk about the man and his wife as if they were friends.

I miss my parents so much. My father did everything he could to save my mother from dying of breast cancer but we couldn't afford the treatments and didn't have enough money to pay a witch to help. So I spent ages ten to twelve years old, taking care of my mother while she fought harder than anyone to survive up until she took last breath and told me she loved me.

My father tried doing all he could to take care of me but, one day when I was sixteen years old and we were working at the same house him and mom had been for a long time, he was killed. He was outside chopping some wood while I was picking out fresh flowers from the garden to place in the Master's wife's vase when out of nowhere, a rogue came from behind in the woods and attacked him.

I remember screaming out loud as the wolf was on top of him, biting and clawing at my father who kept trying to fight him off and as I tried to help him, he yelled for me to go get the Master. But by the time we we got outside, there was nothing left of him except mostly bones, blood and shredded pieces of his clothes scattered all over the ground while it looked as though the rogue had already ran off into the woods.

The Master and his wife tried to comfort me and had had him buried (or what was left of him) next to my mom. I haven't visited their graves in a while because it's a little far away now and plus, I haven't been able to have any time to do it.

Instead, I grab my sweater and head towards town and see if Sadie can meet up with me so I can talk to her.

I left early enough while it was still daylight and had planned to come back to the place before dark.

When I got to town, luckily, Sadie was already outside of our favorite cafe. She looked to have just finished kissing goodbye her boyfriend.

I wish Boulder and I can be like that. Hopefully we still have a chance.

After kissing her boyfriend goodbye and he starts to leave, I start walking her way when she looks and spots me.

"Hey!" She smiles real big and starts running up to me." She says excited while she hugs me.

"I'm so glad you're here. I was thinking about writing to you to see if we could get together soon." She smiles.

"I know. I'm sorry, I've just been busy." I tell her.

"Are you okay?" She asks.

"Sort of. Can we talk?" I ask.

"Of course. Come on, let's head in the cafe." She says as she throws her arm over my shoulders and we head inside the cafe while I start telling her about everything.

Then once I was finished I was a little nervous because I was afraid of what she might say. Not to mention the look on her face wasn't clear.

"I'm sorry, I shouldn't have told you." I begin.

"No. I'm sorry, I'm just....shocked." she replies.

"I know. And I know it sounds crazy but, after the other night I just, I'm scared. I am a human after all and he's a werewolf and our kinds are not meant to be together." I begin.

I feel her reach over and grab my hand.

"Since we're being honest, you know my boyfriend Zeke?" She begins.

"Yeah." I reply.

"Nobody else knows this and nobody can. But he's a werewolf. A Beta to be exact." She says.

"What? Why didn't you tell me before?" I asked.

"Because I wasn't sure and besides, I promised him I wouldn't tell anyone."

"Wait, if he's a werewolf than how he is able to be on this territory?" I asked confused.

"He has this kind of cologne, or at least that's what it smells like and he got it from this witch so it masks his ability to shift here. He's still strong and his senses are high but nobody can find out that he's not human." She smirks.

"Wow." I reply.

"Hey, I got an idea, why don't we get together sometime. Like go on a double date. I would like to meet the Alpha King." She smiles.

"I don't know." I reply as I take a drink of my coffee.

"Oh come on." She says.

I think about it for a moment before I say anything.

"We'll see." I tell her.

"Good. In the meantime, I got something for you." She says with excitement as she pulls out a cell phone.

"What's this?" I ask as I look at it.

"It's a gift. You don't have to worry about payments either and everything is unlimited. This way we don't have to keep doing things the old fashioned way with writing each other letters." She chuckles.

"Thanks." I smile.

"You're welcome. Well I need to get going." She says.

"Yeah, me too." I tell her.

"I'll see ya later gorgeous." She says while hugging me.

"See ya later." I reply while hugging her back.
