RUBY
It has been a couple weeks since Lecter and his pack were all kicked out and even though Kathleen, Mike and Boulder have gone above and beyond to make me feel secure and safe so that I didn't have to worry, I still felt uneasy in the back of my mind. Can you blame me though?
For the first few nights, I slept with Boulder, I had a few nightmares about Lecter and his pack coming back with more wolves and were attacking us out of nowhere. However, the closer I have gotten with Boulder and the more I've gotten to know him, I haven't had a nightmare since.
He also was very serious about not wanting me to do anything around the house anymore but I just couldn't sit back and have others wait on me. Especially Kathleen and Mike. They've become like my parents and it felt weird but more wrong than anything to have them wait on me.
Luckily, today Kathleen and Mike had gone out for the day to spend some time together and since they were gone as was Boulder out on his Alpha duties, I took the opportunity to make some dinner for both Boulder and I.
One of the multiple guards Boulder had left to watch over me while he was away, came towards the kitchen.
"Luna, Alpha does not want you to do anything. Whatever you want I can make for you." He smiles.
"Okay, first of all, please don't call me Luna until I have earned that title. My name is Ruby and second of all, you don't need to tell Boulder about this because I want to surprise him with a nice dinner tonight." I smile at him. "And don't worry, I won't tell him that you even knew about it." I winked at him.
He stands there for a moment and then finally gives up trying to convince me otherwise and walks back outside.
I end up making some delicious homemade fried chicken along with a tossed garden salad as well as some corn and mashed potatoes. Right as soon as I finish placing the last chicken and put it on the table along with everything else I had just made, I lit two tall candles I found on the top shelf of the cupboard in the kitchen. Then I heard heavy footsteps walking closer towards the dining room.
"Hi." I turn to greet him with a smile and then I notice Jai and a couple other pack members come walking around the corner laughing about something.
"Hey." Boulder says while looking surprised.
"Wow." Jai comments as soon as he see's the table.
"I wanted to surprise you guys with dinner." I quickly think of a quick lie since I feel a little embarrassed.
"Uh, we're gonna get going Alpha. We've got to head out and check in with the guards around the perimeter." Jai tells him.
"Alright." Boulder replies while still looking at me with a smile.
"We'll see you later." Jai winks at me before him and the other guys turn to leave.
The moment they left though, while looking at Boulder, I felt a bit nervous as to rather or not he was going to be upset because I went against what he told me in that I shouldn't be cooking or lifting a finger around here. But it was the complete opposite surprisingly.
He starts walking towards me slowly and when he gets close enough to me he wraps his arms around my waist and pulls me in closer against his body and looks into my eyes before leaning in and gently kissing me.
Then as we pull our heads back for a moment to take a breath, he smiles and moves a few strands of hair from my face.
"I know what you said about me cooking and everything but, like I said before, I am not that kind of a person." I begin to tell him.
"It's okay. I knew you wouldn't be able to resist because you're a strong independent person that I am honored to have as my Luna." He tells me.
"Who said I was for sure accepting that title? You haven't asked to mark me or anything yet and who's to say I'll say yes." I ask with a cocked eyebrow.
"Oh really?!" He smirks.
We both chuckle and then take a seat to start eating. He moans a little as he takes a few bites of food.
"Mmm, baby this is delicious." He says as he takes more bites.
"I'm glad you like it." I chuckle.
We eat for a little bit before we start talking.
"You know, I want you to know that what I tell you for things you don't need to do, I really don't mean it in a demanding and controlling way. I just want you to know that I want to take care of you and don't mind doing it neither. But if you insist on not letting others wait on you that's okay, but just don't feel like you have to or that it's your job." He tells me before taking a drink of wine.
"I know." I smile at him. "I didn't take it as a demand, but I didn't want you to think of me as someone that expects you to be like that neither." I confess.
He smiles at me as I return it as well and begin taking a drink from my wine while we continue to make eye contact and suddenly, I can't help but notice the way that Boulder is looking at me in a way as though he wants to take me on this table right now. Then again, it's possible I'm only thinking that way because that's what I want him to do right now.
Next chapter will be posted soon! :)
