CHAPTER 14: I Hope She Likes This.....

I still have not found my brother and his pack but we're still looking.

Today, I was in my office looking over a few things when I heard a knock on the door.

"Come in." I said.

I looked up and saw it was Kathleen.

"Alpha Boulder?" She greets me.

"Kathleen." I smile. "What's up?" I ask.

"Why are you avoiding Ruby?" She scowls while placing her hands on her hips.

"I'm not avoiding her." I tell her.

"Really?!" She asks.

"Yeah. I've just been really busy is all." I lie.

"Bullshit!" She says as she stomps up to my desk and waves her finger at me. "Now don't forget that I was given permission from your parents before they died that I am allowed to kick your ass if needed."

I start chuckling and she raises her hand at me and I push back in my chair from my desk.

"Alright alright, I'll make things better. Where is she though?" I ask.

"She said something about meeting up with a friend." She smirks with amusement.

"What friend?" I asked while trying not to sound jealous.

"I'm not sure." She says.

I shake my head and start quickly leaving through the woods and when I make it to the other side at the borderline between wolves territory and the humans, to wait for her, when I see her come walking out of a cafe with her FEMALE best friend it looked like and then saw her come walking towards the woods in my direction.

I began to back up and try to get out of sight so she didn't see or hear me while I watched her walk home. That sounded like a good plan of course but didn't work out that way since I just stood there watching her walking over. Then she looks up and see's me.

She stops at first, surprised to see me and then continues to walk towards me.

"Hey." I nervously tell her as I put my hands in my pockets.

"Hi." She replies.

"Ruby, I'm really sorry about the other night." I try and explain.

"Don't worry about it. I understand." She says.

"No, you don't." I tell her while walking up to her. "I didn't reject you that night. Let alone was disgusted by the scars. In fact, it was the opposite. I was furious at my brother and his men for doing that to you and me not..." I stop and look away for a moment while fighting back tears. "I feel like shit that I wasn't there to stop it and..." I try to continue but stop as soon as I feel her soft hands gently hold my face while having me look at her.

"You did save me though. I know it would have gotten worse if you hadn't kicked him out when you did. Not to mention that even though I'm human and not like you, you still accept me as your mate. I have been rejected most of my life and yet you didn't." She smiles a little.

I begin to smile back at her as we lean in and start kissing each other.

We then walk hand-in-hand back to the house talking to each other and getting to know one another a little more.

Then once we get back to the house, I ask her to go out and have dinner with me. Which of course she said yes and Kathleen was gonna help her get ready.

To be honest, I haven't been on a date for a long time. Should I do the cliche dinner? Or something else? She seems like the romantic type.

I found Mike to see what he thought and see of he could help me figure out what to do.

"Well, what I think you should do is maybe make her some dinner." He suggests.

"Talk about cliche." I chuckle.

"Not many will do that. In fact, you should make her the chicken parmesan dish I showed you." He says.

"Okay.." I begin thinking.

"You also could be playing some nice Frank Sinatra? You can never go wrong with him." He winks.

"Thanks. I'll keep that in mind." I smile at him.

"Alright guys, I'm taking Ruby out to get something nice for tonight." Kathleen calls out to us before they leave. Then Mike and I begin getting everything ready.

I prepare things outside with some candles on in the middle of the table along with place settings and eating utensils along with wine glasses and then make my way upstairs to get cleaned up and ready.

I slicked my hair back, wore a button up black shirt with black slacks and nice dress shoes.

When I make my way downstairs, Mike tells me that him and Kathleen are on their way here and that Kathleen and him would be leaving for the night and would be back later on. He also said that Kathleen was going to tell Ruby to come inside and she'd be right behind her when really she would stay in the car and wait for Mike. I thanked him and he went outside to meet with Kathleen.

I kept feeling more nervous until the front door opened and in walked my mate. My Ruby.
