The summer flew by with many secret visits to Diagon Alley with Nash-he was surprisingly fine with Aquila meeting her friend-and a new message in the sky every night. Cedric had sent her a letter every day; Aquila was surprised by his commitment. She was also a little bummed they couldn't sit on the train and talk about their summers; they already knew every detail.
Regor and Vega made sure to tell Aquila to stay out of trouble. They were thinking of getting her a new telescope that Christmas, and getting a detention would make them change their minds.
Aquila made a mental note to only get in trouble after Christmas.
With Nash starting his seventh and final year-and being Head Boy on top of that-Aquila had a get out of jail free card most of the time. However, she knew Nash wouldn't hesitate to give her a week's worth of detention if she so much as looked at him the wrong way. She was gonna have to do some major butt kissing in order to keep herself out of trouble.
She found Cedric sitting with a light haired boy. When she walked into the compartment, the new boy looked at her and swallowed. His green eyes met her brown ones, and he timidly asked, "You aren't going to hex me, are you?"
Aquila laughed. Word of her advanced hexing skills had spread. "Depends," she said. "Are you opposed to the nickname eyebrow sweat?"
Cedric chuckled from the corner, and Aquila smiled at him. She walked over to him and pulled him into a hug, "I missed you," she said.
"We saw each other last week!" Cedric said.
"I miss you no matter how long it is!" Aquila said. It was true. She hadn't gone a second of her summer without thinking about Cedric. She wanted to take him on a tour of her house and let him pet the little kitten the family had recently adopted. She wanted to show him the field she went to every night.
"Aquila, this is Ethan," Cedric said, motioning the the boy next to him. Ethan gave a small wave, and Aquila smiled brightly at him.
"Nice to meet you, Ethan!" she said a little too loudly.
"Same here," the boy said, wincing at her loudness.
Cedric nudged Ethan in the shoulder, "She won't bite you."
"That's not entirely true," Aquila said, sitting down across from the boys. "I bit Alexis Greenwall last year."
"And she slapped Carlos Blake," Cedric said.
"What?" Ethan asked. "You slapped him?"
"Yep," she said.
"Wicked," Ethan said. "You're in Slytherin, right?"
"Yeah," she said.
"I'm in Hufflepuff," the boy said. "Cedric never mentioned me?"
"I don't recall-"
"Of course I did!" Cedric yelled. "Remember I mentioned a friend in my letter!"
Aquila put her fingers on her chin, deep in thought, "Ah, yes. The letter... I remember-" she abruptly turned to Ethan and flatly stated, "nope, never mentioned you."
"Quil!" Cedric exclaimed.
Ethan hit Cedric, "I can't believe this! You talk about her all the time to me, but you never mention me to her? Bro!"
"It never came up in conversation-"
"You should've brought it up!" Aquila said. "I wanna know who your friends are so I can steal them from you."
"That's why I didn't mention you," Cedric said to Ethan. "She would try to steal you from me and taint our friendship."
"You're the friendship tainter!" Ethan exclaimed. "You didn't even tell your other friends about me!"

Aquila, Cedric, and Ethan talked for the duration of the train ride. Aquila had a lot in common with Ethan, and the boy seemed to take an interest in her star talking. However, Aquila didn't feel the same connection to him that she did with Cedric.
She wanted nothing more than to somehow get Ethan away from them for just five minutes. She wanted to talk to Cedric alone and laugh about Xander Clark and call him eyebrow sweat. She felt that Ethan was in the way of that.
Maybe Cedric felt the same way. Maybe he didn't want to tell her about his new friend because he didn't want things to be different.
She didn't hate Ethan by any means; he was funny and nice and witty, but she couldn't help but pray to Merlin he'd have to pee so she'd be alone with Cedric.
Cedric was deep in conversation with Ethan, so Aquila stepped out for a minute. Sadly, she ran into Alexis and Abby.
"Star Girl," Abby said. "Sending messages in the sky, are you?"
Alexis seemed to snarl, "I heard you hit Carlos. You'll pay."
"I'm sure I will," Aquila said, pushing passed the two. She made it to the bathroom and changed into her robes.
As she walked back to the compartment she knew it would be an eventful year full of curses and detentions.
Her parents would be so proud.
