The welcoming feast was relatively boring to Aquila. It was announced that their Defense Against the Dark Arts professor would be retiring at the end of the year, and Aquila made friends with a few Slytherin first years.
She knew that nobody in Slytherin liked her-Carlos and the Greenwalls especially-so the only way to make friends was to convince the first years she wasn't insane. She wasn't trying to be selfish, but she felt so alone in Slytherin.
Halfway through Dumbledore's speech, Aquila was hit with a pea. She scowled at Carlos, who returned the glare and launched another green ball at her.
Aquila caught it, and threw it back at him, hitting him in the eye.
The three kids glared at Aquila, who smiled brightly and pretended to listen to the headmaster.

"I'm telling you, she's a freak!"
Aquila tried as hard as she could not to punch Alexis in the throat. The twin had gone around telling all of the first years Aquila was Star Girl. Soon, all of her previous friends had began joining with the other Slytherins and ganging up on the green haired girl.
Aquila made sure to cut holes in her socks.

Alexis wasn't too pleased about wearing toeless socks, and she made sure to tell Aquila about her distaste.
"Oh, go cry to your boyfriend," Aquila said. "No one here cares."
"I could say the same to you!" Alexis said.
"You could, but you'd sound like a fool considering I have nothing to cry about."
Alexis crossed her arms over her chest, "But you will!"
"Good luck," Aquila said, flipping her hair and walking to the Hall.
She met up with Cedric when she got there. She was surprised to find him alone, seeing as Ethan was always with him now.
"Hey, eyebrow sweat," Aquila greeted him.
"Hello, Star Girl," Cedric said. "You aren't blowing up any chairs today, right?"
"I'm not," she reassured him. "I cut holes in her socks last night."
"Alexis?"
"Yep."
"Carlos hasn't done anything yet?"
"No, but I'm not surprised. He's a planner; I'm expecting his revenge around next week."
Cedric laughed, "Just don't stir up more trouble."
Aquila put her hand on his shoulder, "Please, Ced. When have I ever stirred up trouble? I'm an angel!"
"The Angel of Trouble."
"Why didn't you tell me about Ethan?" Aquila asked. The question had been itching at her brain all night, and if she didn't ask it, she's explode.
Cedric shrugged, "Wasn't important."
"But it was! He's really cool; why isn't your new friend important?"
"I didn't want you to think I was replacing you," Cedric admitted.
"Replace me? Please, there's no bloody way you can replace me-not even with Harry Potter himself. Ced, I'm irreplaceable, and trust me, if I felt he was replacing me, I would've said something. Ethan's cool."
"That's a relief," the boy said.
"Did I ever tell you I'm glad we're friends?" Aquila asked.
"Might've mentioned it."
"Well, it's true. I'm glad I met you, Cedric Gunther Diggory."
"I'm glad I met you too, Aquila Bad Guess Whitman."
"Darn! You looked like a Gunther!"
"Yeah, and you're middle name's Tinka," Cedric said sarcastically.
"Not even close, eyebrow sweat."

Of every class she had that day, Snape was the only one to assign something. Having Potions with the Gryffindors that year, she heard the Weasley twins complaining about the assignment from the back of the class.
The Weasley twins sure had a lot to say about Aquila. They thought talking to the stars was "totally wicked," and only idiots would make fun of it. They also admired the wide variety of curses and hexes the girl knew, and she agreed to help them learn a few in exchange for her safety-she didn't want pranked by them again.
"Aquila!" the Weasley twins called after class. "When are we gonna learn that jinx that makes people's legs turn to jelly?"
"Later," she said. "And while we're there, you guys can help me with the potions assignment."
"We were actually hoping you'd be helping us," Fred admitted.
"Don't get your hopes up," Aquila told him. "I suck at potions."
"Can't be as bad as Fred," George told her.
"Excuse you!" Fred exclaimed in mock hurt. "I'm a better potions master than you'll ever be!"
Aquila laughed. Seeing the brothers quarrel had brought a smile to her face, and she continued to talk to them until they reached the library. The twins went to find the special potions book their professor assigned them to read, while Aquila searched for a table for the three of them to sit at.
She found Ethan, who waved her over. "Hey, Ethan," she said. "I'm looking for a table but am having no luck. It seems every second year is here doing Snape's assignment!"
"Tell me about it!" Ethan said. "Cedric and I came in here to do the project together-we were going to ask you to join us, if you wanted to-and we couldn't find the book. There's no copies left."
"I'd love to join you guys, but I promised Fred and George I'd work with them."
"They can work with us too! I'm sure Cedric wouldn't mind."
Fred and George appeared from the shelves with Cedric close behind them. The twins smiled at Aquila, who smiled back although she didn't understand why.
"Cedric said we can work you you guys!" George said.
"And I told them we are horrendous at potions," Fred said proudly.
"And now I'm gonna say," Ethan said, "Potions, yay!"
Aquila looked at him, "And I'm going to say, Nerd!"
