First off, Goldstein, ffkys.
Second off:
This fanfic has been through a lot in its time. I have changed so many character names since the beginning, rewritten many chapters, and spent countless hours writing chapters with the intent on stuffing them with AVPM references until there were no possible references left to reference.
The latest change for this fanfic is, well, everything. I have decided to scrap it completely and never finish it. I planned on rewriting it for National Novel Writing Month, but I failed miserably, ending with seven and a half chapters written, but seven and a half good chapters is better than one hundred nineteen bad ones.
The reason I chose to just scrap it completely is because the book became too cluttered with plot holes and loose ends to tie that I got tired and lazy, and my original ending for the story didn't fit anymore. I tried to quickly give a bunch of characters some sloppy, half-assed redemption arks to get my story back on the track I originally planned, but I was beginning to confuse myself with all of the ideas in my head not translating to the page properly.
Did I write that scene? Did that really happen? How come I don't remember? These types of questions played pinball in my head for hours at a time, and I came to the conclusion that the only way I could stay sane and write the ending I always wanted was to fix the fic.
I initially thought I could just go back and edit and revise a few things, but the I realized that would probably confuse a lot of my readers who were waiting for the next update. I couldn't just reference a scene they had never read and expect them to feel the impact of the ending I was trying to create. No spoilers, but I planned on killing a character and having my main character go to their funeral at the end, but their relationship was so messed up in the original that nothing in that scene would've made sense because they weren't ever friends!
So I needed a new plan, and of course, no nut November was rolling around, and I had come to find out that November was more than the month of nutlessness; it was also National Novel Writing Month (or NaNoWriMo). And then it hit me! I had been putting off the idea for the longest time, but I knew that it was finally time to do it--rewrite the entire thing.
And it all made sense to me. If I could churn out 50,000 words at the end of November, I would be halfway done with Star Girl by December! And I was so naive that I actually thought I could do it... I want to go back in time and give myself a reality check.
I failed to write the 50,000 words, but I did end up writing seven and a half chapters, and I am really proud of them. I might have failed NaNoWriMo, but I ended with more than I started with, and for that, I pat myself on the back.
So what does this mean to you? Well, this means that you are about to read the original version of Star Girl. I might think it's the worst thing in the world, but people really do love reading it. I wouldn't have taken the time to copy and paste everything (all 119 chapters) if you guys didn't like it as much as you did. At the time of me writing this, the original Star Girl fanfic had 187K reads, 9.13K votes, and 3.23K comments.
Thank all of you so much for reading this. Star Girl was the first book I ever wrote on here that got over 100K reads, and that is still crazy to me. The first chapter alone had 11.5K reads, and about 200 people stuck through until the end! I know they're just numbers, but they sure do make me happy to see.
You can read the new version on my main account, Jtsquared4.
Now, without anymore delay, I give you Star Girl.
